The low by Florence now needs to be watched because it's going to drift far westward could end up a Gulf threat.

What are the odds they miss the intensity forecast by a decent margin? Just seen Key West had 57 mph sustained winds a few minutes ago...wouldn't that put this storm 24 hours or so ahead of predicted intensity

Based on my personal experience, St. Tammany will wait until the last second to decide. An intensification of storm strength and they will cancel...but not until tomorrow morning.

To let everyone know, the Louisiana National Guard hasn't reacted to this yet. Which is good news.

I see what you do following the eye that briefly formed. It looks like it just fell apart as quickly as it looked to wrap around itself

I honestly don’t envy the superintendents in these parishes. We all know that odds are strong that most of us in Louisiana will not see significant weather from this. Probably a breezy day with winds 10-15 mph and rain off and on. But, if they don’t discontinue the tropical storm warnings by tomorrow afternoon then it’s hard to send kids to school under a warning. I see no reason for closing or early releases tomorrow in the BR area but can see some school districts closing Wednesday if warnings aren’t lifted tomorrow afternoon.

Agreed. Anyone that decides to err on the side of extreme caution is just fine with me. Of course some will complain. But no matter what, someone is going to complain, so frick em.

I’m pretty sure my kids will be going to school tomorrow (St. Tammany). At best they’ll get out a little early. Wednesday will be the off day. Same for my work. Unless this thing speeds up of course or rapidly intensifies.

Yes, I can’t imagine that parishes further east won’t close at least Wednesday. I’m more curious how those on the western edge will handle this. WBR, EBR, etc. Those parishes were already on the very western edge and the track has only shifted away from us. I wouldn’t be surprised if warnings are dropped for many of the parishes over here by tomorrow morning.
