Don't put it in the OP though. It's quite obviously not official information and the rest of your stuff is from bona fide experts.

I have a list of miscellaneous links and put a link to your post there. I know it's not "serious" but it is something that could be useful to people. That list is where I linked to the travel board airline hurricane waiver thread and a post by an insurance adjuster and some news articles.

To be fair, my MIL asked my wife last night if we were planning on evacuating. We live in Baton Rouge.

I know the feeling. One of my wife's grandmothers lives in Washington state. She texted my wife Monday and wanted to know if the hurricane would be a threat to us. We live ~900 miles from Wilmington.

I don’t remember a hurricane that has been hugging the same zone 5 days out on the models quite like this ever in the gulf

Pretty much every one that’s gone through the Caribbean.

South Carolina’s governor sounds like they got him off his farm and told him what a hurricane is last night.

being in C or X's don't always means there's no threat when we talking tropical dumps and you can still be in a trapped situation unable to evacuate surrounded by waters.

I know. Hell, being anywhere in NC or SC could end with a tree falling through your house too, but I'm trying to keep it reasonable.

Frankly, if you have the financial resources and logistical capabilities to evacuate, do it, but that's obviously not possible for many.

That being said, you're right, it's not some guarantee that you'll not flood or be trapped.

Ugly run... Gets the 20" rainfall contour a good bit farther inland this run. Looks like the I95 corridor gets hit hard with pretty big rain totals.

Just hugged the coastline for a couple of days.

Judging by texts and emails my family thinks that Charlotte is a coastal city and my house is on the beach.

Am I evacuating?
What’s my safety plan?

Uh, it’s going to be rainy. I hope the power doesn’t go out and mess up my college football Saturday. That’s my primary concern.

It's a computer model showing what the scenario it depicts would result in. The end result could be more, could be less, and could set up in different locations. The big takeaway is large portions of SC and southeastern NC should expect significant flooding rainfall.

It's like a real life "Choose Your Own Adventure" book.

Until you realize you don't live in NC or SC and the book ends on page 2.

And there are entirely too many words and not enough pictures in the book for Bama fans.

Duke, or Slackster, question for y’all. Are the chances of this hurricane strengthening slimmer than the chances of it continuing to weaken?

I'd say that model isn't good news for anyone in I77 corridor and east. What's scary is some areas could see close to the same rain they saw in 2014.

My in laws expressed some concern too. We reminded them we are about 8 hours south of where Florence is supposed to hit.
