frick. I’ve been so wrapped up in this that I didn’t even think about the Saluda and Congaree rivers in Columbia. It could get really bad with those rainfall totals.

Real talk Once you get atleast 60 miles inland, head west. COLA isn't going to be a pretty situation.

How about Sumter?

Based on the GFS, the wind and rain threat in central SC could be very moderate. I'd wait to see how the Euro comes out, however.

How far inland do y’all think will be safe? Still trying to plan where to stage up on Sunday...

Look at rainfall total predictions and avoid those areas. If you’re in NC/SC heading south would be best to Georgia

Winston- Salem would be considered "hilly", especially for those used to Louisiana topography.
As long as your folks aren't in a home low near a creek bed, I think they'll be fine.

SC rivers will crest and flood, though. You might be alright in Sumter. Columbia is wedged between 2 rivers.

I'll take statistics any day of the week. Since 1935, 12 Cat 4 and 3 Cat 5 have hit the US. That't it. How many have hit the Carolinas? 3 ---Hazel, Gracie, and Hugo.

A friend of mine in Virginia had some pretty decent flooding going on this morning. Already starting to get in his house. I guess they’ve been getting a lot of rain for a while now. All that water is gonna have nowhere to go.

Check Lake Ocoee on Air bnb. May be full with the Clemson game but worth a shot.
