People do it all the time what are you talking about? It’s not like it’s going to flip the plane just causes extreme turbulence.

Worst case scenarios rarely play out, so maybe it pulls up short and stays just offshore or pulls an Irma and slides down into Cuba before turning north.

Blake and Avila are my favorite 2.

Landfall would be near or just south of Port St. Lucie.

If this forecast verifies, that slow movement will be a huge problem. It basically goes from near Freeport to just north of Lake Okeechobee in 48 hours.
Not good at all.

I know they do, I just don’t understand how a 100+mph crosswind doesn’t not affect and airplane.

The horizontal winds allow for a plane to actually navigate somewhat smoothly. Thunderstorms can actually be harder to fly through because of vertical winds.

The current NHC five day cone looks like Harvey, just becomes a circle after landfall

They kind of fly above things

These things stress me out to no end.. looks like it will head north still when it hits FL?

Seeing southerly flow coming over Hispaniola, probably still throwing some stability his way coming over the mountains. Looks like it's going to be plenty moist when he turns west. With the very healthy outflow he's got in place, 140 for the max might be underdoing it.
With the pretty hard turn all the models have, I do have to wonder if he doesn't turn north a little early.

I like how the forecasters put the $$ on top of their names.
Ballers.
Ballers.

Storm surge. My Mom is right off i95 in north Fort Pierce at 12-13 feet elevation. I would guess about 5 miles from the beach. I have been working her on the phone all day and I’m 90% sure I’ve got her convinced to go stay with relatives in Orlando. So storm surge will be tomorrow’s new argument.

Landfall at a 4, then 24hrs of basically stationary and it’s still a Cat1?
Fla should be a 3rd world country but even they don’t deserve that fricking
