For the life of me I still can not comprehend how you fly an airplane through the middle of a hurricane with 100+ mph winds.
They typically try to fly into the winds as they approach the center. Airplanes have 500+ mph winds flowing over them at altitude, so 100 mph isn't a big deal. They just adjust the path to eliminate ad much cross wind as feasible.

00z GFS taking a bit more of a southerly track, pretty much outside of the 18z GEFS spread through 54hrs (except for one crazy south member).

I know Blake was curious in his discussion if the southern trend would continue or not especially with the data from the HH in these runs.

Fort Myers residents should still be sending thank you notes to Cuba for this.

And a lot slower too.
that caught my eye too
wonder if that'll open up the out to sea option a little more... which I'm sure everyone wants
ETA: now that I see the ridge gif... I guess that doesn't really open up out to sea
but what do I know

I don't think so not looking at the model run but the ridge is building in stronger hence the darker orange color. Eta..don't pay attention to me pay attention to Duke and Rds Dc along with GeauxMedic and Slackter in this thread lol.

Gotcha. That helped. I can't imagine flying through a freaking hurricane.
I'm surprised it's at such low altitude. I'm not a pilot, but 1000 feet doesn't seem like much to work with if something goes bad in that environment. Big huevos no matter who's flying.

I'm in Jacksonville and I'm relying on this thread for updates. It's significantly better than anything I see on TV. Thanks to rds dc, Duke, deltaman, etc... for keeping us informed.

GFS Rainfall forecast over next 9 days
Still early to pinpoint exactly where the highest amounts will be but this gives an idea of the potential amounts somewhere.

Last few fixes suggesting the WNW to W turn is likely not far from materializing.
