He probably just hit town and his throat was dry.

How not? Grand mal seizure with convulsions and his foot was on the gas pedal.

Most cars would take somewhere around 12-15 seconds to reach that speed from zero. Say they were going 20mph when they stomped the pedal, so maybe 10 seconds of acceleration without hitting anything or anyone...in downtown Gatlinburg? Would be difficult for sure.

Maybe he came off one of the side streets that run perpendicular to the main drag.

They're saying medical emergency caused it. I read a driver had a seizure and hit the gas pedal. Driver was traveling close to 100 mph when he hit multiple vehicles.

Had one of those happen in my area.

Medical event, pedal to the medal, hit an oak tree and ended up IN the roof of a house rather than going through the front door.

If this were the case they would’ve ended up barreling into the side of a building.

There is just zero chance you could reach close to 100mph anywhere in Gatlinburg at any time of the year.

which vehicle was the one going 100 mph? None of those shown in the photos look like anything close to a vehicle that crashed at that speed. I was in an accident going 35mph where someone turned in front of me coming from the opposite direction (trying to turn into a parking lot) and the damage was worse than in the photos.

About 3 years ago I was at a minor league baseball game one night and a driver that was in the parkway, went into a diabetic coma and pretty much did the same thing. He went over the curb ran through some bushes, sideswiped about 4 or 5 vehicles then slammed into a parking bollard close to the ticket office. One of the damndest things I ever saw.

If you ever have that first seizure, especially if you're behind the wheel when it happens, good luck getting your license back.

Depends on the circumstances. If you have not had a seizure in a year or so and your neuro gives you the go ahead, you can usually drive again. After my first one (which I did not have in a vehicle), I was not supposed to drive for 6 months. However, LA has no pre-set period in the law, so after a month of being seizure free, I went back to driving.
