Data centers use water for their enormous HVAC systems to cool of the 1000’s of computers. A single data center can use 5 million gallons per day.

For only 50 jobs, its probably time time to contact your city council. It takes a lot more people to run that, but they will be doing it remote. At least bring those jobs local

With this bit, and the fact that they sold that land for $500k, what a shite deal.

We are such a desperate state for "business" aka, allowing the state to be pillaged. There's no way there isn't something nefarious going on behind the scenes.

Is the river water able to be used for their water demands? And can the waste, if there is any, be discharged back into the river?

Definitely but there will need to be a clarifying plant nearby or onsite.

I am sure they "could" build a system that uses river water to cool. But that would be much more expensive then using traditional means and relying on utilities.

Considering how cheap they are getting everything for, I would be shocked if that is in their plans unless the city forces them

I would not call St. Francisville a “suburb” of Baton Rouge. It was founded in 1807.
Using your logic would be troublesome many places.

Where do you stop? BR burb of NOLA, you can commute? Hammond of BR, BR of Hammond etc… Who is a suburb of who?

They have metrics to determine this based on the percentage of the population that travels to another location for work.

Haven’t read into detail but are La corporate income taxes based on asset locations for apportionment calc? I’d be interested to find out how much in Meta tax revenues this will bring into the stare.

So Denham Springs and Prairieville aren't BR suburbs?

ultimately revealed that Google data centers in the region consumed more than 355 million gal. of water in 2021 — an amount that had tripled since 2016 — representing more than one-quarter of the town’s annual water consumption, according to the February 22, 2023

I would challenge that a data center doesn’t consume even a single ounce of water.
