How’d you pass time in the office before wide use internet?

I’m trying to recall how I passed slow/boring days before phones and acceptable internet usage was a thing.

Emailing dirty jokes and nudey pics around to a select group of men. This would never fly today.

Calling the Advocate’s wrestling hotline to get the latest rumors.

Read the paper in the break room for an hour or so.

Play solitare before IT removed them from computers

GO!

My dad’s office used to have a ton of games they would play on the computer.

They would just have to either turn off the internal speaker or kill the sound to the game so the entire area didn’t know you were playing Jeopardy.

Smoke cigarettes, tell racist jokes at the water cooler, sexually harass secretaries, etc.

We found ways to stay busy.

We'd knock things onto the floor and giggle and oogle their breasts and buttocks when the woman folk bent over to pick them up.

Pre internet, my text booty call game was amazing at work. The 4h and city parish student workers were basically a state sponsored harem for those of us working at the golf course.

Before text: I read books and took smoke breaks
