I wrote this in the other thread. It's such horse s***. They could easily keep the alumni emails if they wanted. They take in over a billion from the endowment and hundreds of millions from athletics. They just don't want to anymore.

I maintain a couple of web addresses hosted on various reseller servers. Every single domain has unlimited email accounts included in the price. The only requirement is setting them up initially. Total cost for unlimited web traffic and unlimited emails is like $10/month. Maybe less. If LSU can’t manage $120 annually plus maybe one student worker to handle user issues, they’re doing it wrong.

Since I’ve used this email for almost 20 years - it’s going to be a pain in the butt to change all my stuff

How hard is it for people to realize that LSU is already listed on their LinkedIn profiles? I can only imagine the percentage of support tickets that come from old farts using the alumni email address that can't figure out Outlook.com, Gmail (blech), etc.

As mentioned before, you have to pay Microsoft per mailbox, every month. Standard rate is $7, but they probably got it for $3-4 per after EDU discount. And there still need to be help desk jockeys (not Microsoft) that get paid to answer stupid user questions.
