I set up an email with Gmail in 2004. I had to be invited. It’s my name. I never kept anything with school email.

I just retired from a company of 30+ years. Essentially, this was only email I ever had. Changed it upon retirement,
LSU had alumni email in the mid 1990’s?

I am losing my alumni email address….different university….same problem:
No, this change is affecting all colleges and universities using Google for higher education accounts. In early 2021, Google announced it was ending the free unlimited storage it had offered higher education accounts (see under “Introducing a new storage policy”). Each institution will now be charged for any storage above a standard allotment.
Based on this new model, Yale has determined that it can support 5GB of data for each YaleMail account moving forward.

I am furious about this. This account has been used as my sole account for tons of logins for 20+ years. I can't even begin to formulate how many profiles I'm going to have to change to a new email account.
For those asses you never used it, good for you, keep scrolling. I used to travel for work so all of my airline accounts, rental accounts, government logins, state logins are tied to this account.
This is complete BS! F LSU.

I hear ya, I just did a quick spreadsheet. I'll have at least 55 accounts I'll need to update to a new email address.
I texted someone who works in the Alumni office and it's confirmed that they are going away. I asked if there was going to be delay because she's been getting emails left and right about it. She said the 31st is the hard cut off, but if that changes she'd let me know.
Huge PITA!!!

Think of how many people could have duped some software companies using an @lsu.edu email address could land you the student discount on something like an Adobe subscription.

I’ve been using my yahoo email or work email ever since I graduated college. Not sure what the desire is to keep a college email account?
Posted on 4/28/26 at 7:36 am to Tarps99
The software companies didn't allow those discounts on the alumni email addresses.
Posted on 4/28/26 at 7:38 am to BabyTac
It wasn't a desire. It was a free email account that was given to alumni after graduation and they said that is was ours for life.
Hindsight is 20/20. I wouldn't have used that account if I knew in the future it was going to be deleted.

I created Outlook addresses for my kids before they were even delivered. Where were your parents? Do they still have their @AOL address?
Look on the bright side, the amount of SPAM you get about buying gold to secure your future will greatly decrease when you upgrade to a Yahoo account.
