Nurses are skilled laborers. I married up class wise...Hopefully that doesn't end in divorce...

It is true though. The nature of our profession seems to appeal to those that are also codependent. We care for others and take pride in caring for others. We value being needed by others. Also...I think we like the power trip of knowing we might be "too good" for our mate. I know that was the case when I dated a total loser in my 20s. I was very codependent then and made excuse after excuse for his horrible behavior/treatment of me. For some twisted reason I seemed to thrive knowing that deep down...I was too good for him.
Thankfully once I left him I was able to break the cycle and focus on finding someone that was more of my equal.

If he paid for med school then he has/had some coin, or has a shitload of loans to pay for her.

i was going to say this but i didn't want to come off as being mean. that's why i labeled it in terms of transition
lawyers are more professional labor but it's a path to transition in many cases (with lots of upper class people doing it, too)

And is incredibly sweet.
Edit-I am proud to be a skilled laborer :). That's not mean at all.

Or looking for a good ROI when he can quit working and start playing golf or fishing/hunting everyday.

quote:Bit of of both, he did travel work while I was growing up and my mom worked while we were at school. We went to a sitter for an hour a day before she picked us up etc... She went to school in the morning as we went to the same sitter as well. So he paid for her to do nursing, NP, but then they took out loans for her to become a DR.

Dad is an engineer and my mom was going to be a nurse but had kids before she started and never went back to the work force.
I'm a skilled professional with a college degree (IT)
Wife has a master's degree (library sciences)
We met in college... So yes, we are very similar. Her and her sister are both college educated (my wife moreso because I put her through her master's degree)
But growing up I was in a completely different caste level than my wife's family, but her parents worked their asses off to send them to college and be the first in their family, ever, to get a college degree.

I am in accounting and last few girls I dated were engineers, accounting, and psychologist
I recently dated girl who had a retail job but came from money. Her lack of drive, motivation, and grit did bother me

I worked with an iron worker who was married to a Coochie Dr. But for the most part money married money.

Did you not have a required Sociology class in college? This is basic shite.

Man I can still remember my Sociology class at LSU. Can't remember the professor's name...but I remember what he looked like. Asian guy with big nerdy glass and a long shaggy mullet. Hated that class cause myself and many other students could barely understand his lectures most of the time.
