Going through facebook friends and those that are sales managers, plant operators, technicians, teachers are married to salon stylist, sales managers, teachers, and nurses....

Those that are in law, accounting, medicine (not nursing,) are married to those in law, accounting, and medicine....

Very true. People tend to marry within their own socioeconomic range.

it's about class more than "money"

it just so happens than higher classes tend to do jobs that pay more money

Fairly common since you are most likely to meet your mate in your social circles and rich and poors don't usually hang out.

That shite only happens in the movies to give poors hope.

More likely that your job brings you into regular contact with people at your own pay grade, and sometimes the right chemistry develops as a result.

It's not necessarily true for everybody but it's pretty common.

It is rare but it happens. That being said, it seems like a lot of divorces come out of mismatched classes of people.

My fiancée and I are from the same caste and our perch is pretty high to look down on everyone else.

It's a nice feeling

You are who you run with. Hard for a broke down trash dick to go out and get a chick with a degree and a career. On the flip side, the educated Doctor might go slumming with a low rent gal but he's not marrying her.

What's more alarming then money finding money is how stupid finds stupid. These figures are mind boggling

Makes sense. Rich guy marries poor, uneducated chick. All she has to offer is her beauty and maybe child caring skills. Divorces her when her looks fade to upgrade to a hotter, younger chick that may/may not be more educated.

this CAN work, depending on where the girl is from

you see this a lot in the black community, fwiw. there just aren't that many even halfway decent options for women

i think about this every time i see 2 morbidly obese people in stores. at what point do you admit to yourself that you gave up?

Circle of life. Like social darwinism and what not.

It also breaks into social groups. Like associates with like and when choosing a partner, picking someone that a good understanding of the stresses of your profession is certainly a good selling point.

My parents with the exception of a few years have always been in the same industry. Most of the happy couples I know are. The divorced ones are the lawyer that married the caterer and the like.

I have seen a lot of nurse/md couples land in splitsville. I always equated nurse/doc with stripper/tattoo artist....kind of a cheap cliche. I could not date someone from the hospital.

See it all the time in nursing. Know nurses that are dating/married to men that are basically total losers. One nurse her husband is constantly unemployed and I constantly have to hear about "his next big break". With nurses it's because most of us tend to be codependent. We subconsciously pick mates that we know we will constantly have to care for.

Ouch. Sometimes that truth stings a little. We are a broken motley crew...

nurses seem to be a class-transition occupation in many/most cases, so they're kind of between classes

Kinda sad since my SO is a nurse...

my dad may be the exception as he is a foreman for a construction company and my mom is a doctor. Of course he paid for her to go to nursing school and to become a doctor which may be why it works.
