To suggest that someone has an advantage because of their skin color is the definition of racism.
”the belief that different races possess distinct characteristics, abilities, or qualities, especially so as to distinguish them as inferior or superior to one another”

Sounds like every single person born in the US is privileged and should also be labeled as racist. So hopefully we can end the argument now. We owe an apology to Canadians and should kneel

why don't we try and teach the adults who aren't making good decisions, resulting in their kid's backpack being empty?
Decisions largely define who you will be in life. Some people don't want to hear that they keep making bad decisions over and over.

Recently had this discussion with some of my kids. They realize that what they have and who we are as a family isn't because they're white. It's because their parents worked their asses off for 27 years providing for them and making sure they were raised with morals and confidence. To think they are who they are, or have the opportunities they have, because they are white is a slap in my face.
I'm putting one through graduate school & another in undergrad right now, I put them through private school because our local public schools suck.
I've worked my arse off to provide for my family, nothing was given to me by someone else and it damn sure had nothing to do with my being white. I taught them to have character, a strong work ethic, education and ownership for your actions.
I will never feel guilt for working hard to provide for my family.

Really? I lived in Ethiopia for three years. I do not look like the majority of the population. I did better than 90% of the population. Go figure.

Blacks make up the majority of South Africa, yet whites had more money, less crime
ETA: damn, guy above me said same thing

Correction, there's a perceived advantage.
There's actually written legislated advantages to not being white.
Everyone glosses over that though.

ABC and the rest of you that agree with BLM or white privilege can stick your social marxism up your asses. Our country is being divided and torn apart by all of this bullshite.
Answer me this, why do immigrant blacks do better econmically than native blacks?

I chose to put mine through private school and it meant that in order to live within our means, we would live in a small old house and drive practical cars.
My daughter just finished high school and instead of being out protesting, partying, or screwing off, she's working 45 hours a week this summer to help pay for the car we will get her next month.
Damn privilege.

Doing the right things and making smart choices is not privilege.
No, but it's the only real advantage that I enjoyed over some of my friends from high school. My parents demanded good grades and participation in extra curricular activities. They monitored how late I would stay out and who my friends were. They busted me when I did something stupid. I didn't make decent choices because I am white - I made it because my parents set expectations and enforced the rules. I would have done more stupid shite if it I wasn't afraid that my parents would come down on me like a ton of bricks.
A lot of my friends had parents that didn't stress education. Some of them had parents that were hardly ever home.

That's not what any of it means.
Strip all of the socioeconomic attributes away - do you want to look like the majority of people in a particular country, especially if that is also in power, or not? It's that simple, yet people still act dumb about it.
Please explain why the white people in Nigeria (mostly Lebanese, I believe) are doing so much better than the black people. To keep you from going down the wrong track, they came as poor immigrants.

So by your logic....there would be no white privilege in Atlanta since the mayor, most of the city leadership, the DA , and most of the residents are black.

Correct - that ladder from the lower to middle class is a lot easier to climb if your parents guide you properly as a child.

That's good, but nobody is asking you to feel guilty about it.

Depends. There's probably some islands in the Pacific that I have equal chances of being cannibalized or treated as a god as a 6'2" white guy.

The entire concept of white privilege undermines the value of his hard work - even though that's exactly why he got where he is in life.
The term is used specifically to apportion white guilt.

I already have.. And I told them it was a myth made up by disgusting people who just want to keep us as a country divided.

Get two backpacks. Fill one with snacks, books, coloring pencils, paper, a flashlight, a bottle of water, and maybe even a stuffed animal or blankie. Leave the other backpack empty. Explain to your children that a white person in this country begins life with the filled backpack
This seems racist - if Donald Trump said this it would be all that was discussed

You are talking I'm circles and I don't think you even understand what you are arguing at this point.

Can you point to where I said this?
If you can't see how the term white privilege using the definition provided in the basis for this thread doesn't say people haven't earned what they have then I can't help you.
You are being willfully obtuse at this point.
