1. You are not worth as much as you think you are. They WILL be able to find someone else who can do the exact same job. This means you have no leverage. He doesn't care if you quit.

2. You have a contentious relationship with your boss that is turning hostile. Again, he doesn't care if you quit.

You need to be looking for a new job.

Your boss does not see your value. You have no leverage. Saying “I deserve to work from home because XYZ does” is a baseless argument. You need to make your value more visible, not document what other people are doing.

Everyone is replaceable. You’re not as special as you think you are. Sorry. Not trying to be a Debby downer but the people I employ always are like hey tigerGM we are leaving. And think I’m mad or upset at them. Problem is that I am not and will most likely hire someone better than them.

I myself am replaceable. I let them know that it’s not personal and that if they want to leave they are more than welcome. Grass is always greener right?

Your question needs to be rephrased... It should be, "How to find job before I get fired?"

Couple of observations...
1) Most bosses are going to put up with crap, especially in this economy. If you know they think you are terrible, you are probably not going to be there long. Best case scenario, you don't get a raise.

2) You have a long list of excuses that may or may not be genuine. If your boss is already operating under the assumption that he doesn't like you, you are just giving him more reasons to not give you anything you ask for.

3) You threatened to quit, and he called your bluff. That is a red line. The fact that you are not looking for another job and still trying to get what you want with your current boss shows a lack of awareness.

Also if I was an employer, and I was looking to hire you and knew the information you just posted on a publicly available forum... I would not in a thousand years pull the trigger.

You could hold a gun to his head and tell him either his signature or his brains will be on the paper releasing you to work remotely

My management style is like Tony Beets on Gold Rush. He ran a couple of dead heads off one time and they both went on and on about how screwed he would be without them, yada, yada, yada.

Tony off-handedly replied "There's 7 billion people on Earth, I believe I can find a couple of guys."

Sounds like you need a new job. Look for other jobs that

Your manager "steals" credit and the IT director does not respect you.

Also you do not view your manager as your boss. More than likely the manager would have been able convince the IT director that you would be a benefit to the company to work remotely. You have shite on your manager by going directly to his boss.

Do you support applications that are industry standards? If so find a job here Ochsner

Yeah. What he's overlooking is he sees but is still blind. His immediate mgr respects him so little he takes credit for his work. The next level up isn't budging on any request. Move departments or kick rocks. And Q4 in any cost center is the worst time to bitch.

First off...."Force" is the wrong attitude to have when doing something like this. If you have to "force" anyone to do something like that, you're working in the wrong place or you are not valued. Find another job.

We have a guy who works remotely 1/2 state away. He never forced anything. He asked and they agreed. You need to prove (a) your value. (b) that you can successfully do the job 100% remotely (c) make it worth something the company can't turn down. If you can't do those things, I seriously recommend you find another job in the state you want to work in.

Is the company big enough that you can transfer business units and be closer to your family?

Whatever you do: Don't be insubordinate, don't jump the chain of command, and don't force your boss to make a decision you'll regret....it's easier to find another job while you have one.

You have been there a year. Calm down. There may be more deserving people ahead of you. And it sounds like you were getting feedback, and won't listen.

Line up another job and quit. Even if it is for less money, you have a job not a career at your current place of business. You will cost yourself thousands in opportunities while you work there.

Based on the information provided I wouldn’t have given a raise or allowed you to work from home. I would have also called your bluff and would be in the process of finding your replacement.

You asked for a raise and didn’t have any supporting information to back up your request.

You then asked to work remote because “other people do”.

You then double down and threaten to quit.

And I give no fricks that your back is hurt and can’t sleep.

Do your job, document your successes and stop being a whiny bitch.

You sound like a high maintenance millineal bitch.

So you’ve only worked there a year. It sounds like your worth is a whole lot more to you than to them. You want to make demands with no offer in hand to prove your worth. All the while, so you can move to a small town safe zone with gram gram. How bout you grow the f*** up and stop contributing to your generations stereotype.

Why are you or anyone else for that matter entitled to work remotely? Special circumstances aside, it's never seemed fair to me that certain co-workers can work in their pajamas all day while others have to get up, out, and be seen in the office.
