Just tell them to stop talking about politics/these topics around you as you aren’t a fan of politics. Change the convo when they bring it up.

#1- Your parents have seen some shite. They know BS when they see it. Just like when you and every other teenager in human history, your parents were dumb and out of touch, then as you matured you realized they were much wiser all along.

#2- The majority of conspiracy theories in recent history have in fact been correct. I'm not talking about the flat-earth bar club (see below), I'm talking about Epstein, Hunter's laptop, the clinton foundation, human-caused climate change (will never be settled), digital currencies, covid... You get the picture.

Flat Earth: 20+ years ago, before flat-earth was more than a joke, I found an article from the 1980's or 90's about a group of guys in Iowa or Idaho, who had a drinking/bowling club called the Flat Earthers or something. The article described it as a goofy thing and several of the guys would play it off as a real thing, a real club of believers. They'd tell local reporters about all the reasons why Earth was flat. They were even in a "Weekly World News" edition (that's one of those newspapers you used to find at the checkout of local grocery stores with stories about "aliens turned my baby into a newt"). Eventually some goofballs took it too far and it gained traction with the internets.

Do your own research, get past the headlines of papers that call it "debunked, proven false, etc." and actually read the articles and scientific papers about the origins.

There is ZERO evidence to the contrary. Zero. There is tons of evidence it is a lab virus leaked one way or another. A lab virus from a laboratory specializing in the weaponization of viruses.

So your proof is that you can't prove it isnt true?

The part I bolded is false also fwiw. So part of your "proof" is already wrong.

What’s the point in arguing with people. The litmus test is “what observable reasonable facts can you bring to the discussion in an intelligent manner” not “THEY lied before so I’m not going to believe anything THEY said.” That’s just being a contrarian.

Fair enough but local news is no better. I'd rather take in as much information as I can and form my own opinion.

There is no logical way to equate "seeing some shite" to being able to discern what is fact and what is fiction. In that case every combat vet would be infallible
