was amazed at the results as I eat eggs, bacon, butter, sausage, red meat, etc everyday.
Animal fat is perfectly fine.

It's not a conspiracy. It's a fact. Like how they got marijuana outlawed.

What do you have super trainer?
A fat gut from eating empty carbs and drinking too much beer.
A flabby, soft arse from not doing any exercise.
A little bit of a chub from exchanging posts with a real bad arse.

Not being overweight does not equal good health.

100% this. I blew up 100 lbs after finishing football in college due to the lack of exercise. Also was recovering from an MCL tear so working out was not easy. In less than a year. It amazes me the stuff I used to put in my body and get away with it due to the intense regimen.
Also started eating bananas and grapes during the day to curb the sweet tooth. I wouldnt say I'm at 20g a day, but I almost never eat foods from a box now.

Or rather, I think the effect carbs have is overblown for the general majority.
It has been and especially by people who know vastly less on the topic than they should. "Modern jackass" movement against carbs is ridiculous, so much so that I know folks who eschew carbs in all forms. Some of these same spend $$ on protein supplements, go to the gym several times a week, and wonder why they are growing muscle or getting stronger.

Well that might just win post of the day right there Doc. I got nothing.

Activity is VERY important but most people know that it all starts in the kitchen. You can't consume garbage all the time and not have it take a toll.
You may have a good message but gargling douche water makes you hard to understand.

I blame people.
Ah, the sloth hypothesis. That is a pretty pessimistic place to be (and not my real world experience helping people).
There is no doubt that activity is a vital part of a healthy lifestyle. However, thinking that you can indefinitely ramp up or even maintain your current level of activity as you age is very short sighted (wreaks of machismo)
The factor with the best long term return on investment is the diet. This factor can be sustained indefinitely if people are given the right instructions individualized to them.
TIME is the main non-renewable resource saved by making the diet the focus instead of an activity centric approach.
I know many broken, frustrated, driven people who refuse to change what they eat, disregard sleep and stress management, and just keep working out harder to tread water (for a while until pathologies set in).
Dr Kirk Parsely, Navy Seal, MD (to the Navy Seals) outlines this consistent phenomenon (with metabolically and hormonally broken SEALS due in large part to poor sleep and overtraining). There are many podcasts available if you want to take a listen.
If you sustain the myopic "drive it like you stole it" approach to health, you will head down a predictable broken path that myself or someone similiar will be happy to profit off from you in the future...

Did you read the OP?

If you have industry funded data being put out that vilifies the consumption of a macronutrient (fat) or down plays the impact of the another (sugar) that leads to government policy that is instituted, that is problematic.
If you have the population reduce fat intake, by default carb intake has to rise. If the void was being filled by fruits and veggies, no problem. Instead, most Americans who are trying to maintain their "active" lifestyles have little TIME to prepare traditional foods that have now been vilified. Instead of eating eggs, eat cereal. Instead of a beef roast, eat this frozen Lean Cuisine, drink this sugary Gatorade while you exercise, etc. Processed food, simple sugars, and fructose rise to occasion.
The results of this experiment have played out. More obesity, more DM, more cancer, more diseases of Western Civilzation.
The book I posted on page 3 of this thread (Big Fat Suprise) outlines all of the very questionable studies and practices of the food industry to support its products (which also influenced government policy and the sad state we are in)
Critical think much???
I am out. You can have the last word.

Nope. Sugar is not the issue or your issue.
Wrong! Sugar IS the issue. Blood sugar (glucose) from high glycemic foods like sugar, rice, beer, flour, bread, etc., etc. needs to be avoided. Read "Sugar Busters", or "Why We Get Fat And What To Do About It", etc

A calorie surplus is the main issue.

Started this yesterday. Currently having a case of the runs. Is that normal?

How do you guys feel about artificial sweeteners or diet soft drinks re. impact on low carb diets?
Certain sugar alcohols have been shows to have 0 impact on insulin response.
I honestly intake a lot of erythritol.. Probably should could back on it but overall studies don't show that they do much of anything to the body, so I don't concern myself with it very much.

I never have but I would think it is common due to the increased fat consumption.

Started what, keto?
Definitely normal. Ketosis is a natural diuretic. You are probably beginning to flush lots of water. I typically drop 8-10 pounds of just water when I switch to low carb. Gain that much back when I am eating carbs consistently.
eta
To avoid the 'carb flu', take in a lot of sodium and supplement magnesium.

Good to hear. I saw someone mention potassium and magnesium supplements. How many mg's should I take a day?
