Freshman in college (2000). Had a pager up to that point. Paid for both with a skating rink job and a daycare job.

I was 17 and it was 1991. I worked nights bagging groceries and saved up to buy it. It was an Alpine car mounted cell phone with a plan through Cellular South. I think it was roughly $39.99 a month and $1.99 a minute. It was to damn expensive to use very often but I sure thought it looked cool mounted between the seats on my 1988 Mazda B2000 pick up, and of course that antenna stuck on the back glass let everyone know I had a cellphone! LOL!

22 or 23 I think. It was a StarTac.

You had a credit card at age 18? I think that's more shocking than having a cell phone at a much earlier age.

When I was 27 or so and needed one for work. It was of course an older flip phone. Stayed with the old style phone a long as time even after the I-Phones and similar ones came out. I didn't think I needed a "fancy" phone.
I couldn't imagine living without a good phone these days.
Regarding just keeping the flip phone, I did the same thing.
I kept telling people my phone does what I need it to do. I don't give a shite about the IPhone 3 and that nonsense.
I had to have been like 26 saying that. Around 2008 or so.
Work finally made me get one and the paid for it.
Was amazed after 2 days using it lmao

I got a Motorola analog bag phone when I was 17 back in '93. I worked for my uncle installing them in cars. Back then you had to wire an antenna on the vehicle and run it to the phone. It was Southwestern Bell back then. You didn't talk long either. It was 50 cents per minute peak time and like 10 cents per minute nights and weekends. I was the only kid in my school with a car phone.

21 in 2000. Remember suncom? I didn't want one but became cheaper than a land line with free long distance. Had to call my momma everyday in college

I was in my mid 20s around 1995.

I was a minute-counting fool. So expensive.

Motorola Bag Phone.
External antenna for it on my car.
Yep. I was styling, Though tbh, it was like carrying a man bag.
