How often does an Ambulance go to the wrong address…..

Not like next door, but a 1/2 hour away from the emergency?
My brother had a stroke Saturday while golfing at English Turn. 911 was called “we need an ambulance at English Turn golf and country club”
Ambulance went to Audubon golf course.
When minutes matter.
He got to university Medical center and within a few minutes, suffered another Major Stroke.
Seems like this should not happen but I’m sure it do.

Don't have a clue how often it happens, but English Turn is a hell of a long way from Audubon Park and how that came about is worth looking into.
With GPS and other advancements in locating addresses electronically, I can't see how that is remotely possible to be that far off.

With GPS this should not happen unless the caller gives wrong information.

Caller was in the Group(all members of the club)

My brother has been a paramedic for over 20 years; streets and flight. The amount of people he knows have been killed by other paramedics is staggering. He has on multiple occasions said he will never call 911 and has a DNR.

Dispatch probably entered the wrong course

How is your brother doing now? I suffered a stroke in my office 5 years ago, so if you have questions, let me know.

Unless one is bleeding out, transport by POV if anyway possible.

EMS is a very low paid "profession"
Outside of Doctors and Administration the health care field pay sucks.

I believe this is still the case, but if he was at English Turn (Orleans Parish) the call would have been routed to Plaquemines Parish Call Center due to the location of the nearest cell tower.

Giving correct address is crucial. I run a small, rural Post Office and it amazes me how many mailboxes and houses are not numbered. When seconds count, I would hate to be waiting on police/fire/ambulance trying to rely on gps when it is not always precisely accurate.

I’m amazed how much people let their street address number on their mailbox become unreadable or even fall off. And I’m talking about some really nice houses.

How does that happen in 2025?

The ambulance goes where the dispatcher tells it to go. It's possible the 911 operator mistakenly put in the wrong club or someone gave them the name or address of the wrong club. Hard to say what happened without hearing the 911 call.

I used to be a 911 dispatcher in college I used to hate working Saturday nights women would always be calling trying to order a pizza I would just hang up the phone

Who goes to the wrong address more, the ambulance or the cops?
