middle TN checking in

- sold house in 2022 to cali dude. nice guy; worked in the commerical finance industry in cali and a musician. he called & texted me several times after the sale to ask questions about some of the smart stuff i left behind poor guy and was so excited he got the wood stove to work without backing up smoke into the house he had to share the video

- next door neighbor in williamson county after we moved was from cali and the nicest, most red-pilled guy you will ever meet. we split soil aerator rental costs and i invited him and his daughter over for gumbo during football season

- new neighbor (right outside our long drive) from cali owns a hot-tub relocation business still has a branch in cali but doing most of the work here in middle TN now. also a nice guy but still a bleeding heart progressive. our mailman who is an old cigar chomping veteran gives him ABSOLUTE HELL every time he delivers mail and he takes it like a champ. he's come over to work on my golf cart for free and i let his son fish in our pond while he's recovering from shoulder surgery..he's a baseball player.

so there's cad's anecdotal CA transplant stories. 2 out of 3 are not insane and the 3rd is starting to come around because he's not blindly drinking the koolaid anymore and surrounded by red blooded southerners.

When I was in Denver it was full of them. It was more shocking finding someone born and raised from Denver in Denver than finding a Cali transplant.

We need a wall to keep them out and send them all back over that wall. All of them.

Montana has too many. See a few in UT and FL. Send them back too.

Is this the thread that I have to remind everyone that Trump got 6,006,518 votes in CA in the 2020 election? Not everyone leaving here is your typical lefty loon.

You’re lying to yourself if you believe most of the transplants aren’t voting blue. Again, they’re leaving because they have to. Not because they want to.

A few months ago I was almost run over by one driving a gigantic SUV. Does that count? I was halfway across the crosswalk at Walmart neighborhood market. She thanked me when I jumped out of her way and screamed at her to f in go.

Can you imagine going from San Diego to Baton Rouge? Jeez, I'd be on suicide watch for a while.

Is this happening all over with Texas being the main state of relocation?

There are a ton that have moved to Idaho and Montana, I can't say that I've met any in LA.

Yeah there is something called quality of life….
Mostly you get what you pay for when it comes to moving.

Our office neighbor is a realtor so I hear a little bit from him. In the last year he's sold houses to people from Wisconsin, Utah and Oklahoma. We think of Louisiana as a shithole but some people choose to move here.

They’re leaving because can’t afford it. Not only because of political climate.

Imagine not realizing how directly those two things are related.

They began to flood Salt Lake around latw 2018. Really messed up the housing market. It still hasn't recovered.

I moved to CO straight outta LSU in 94 and now my time here is nearing an end as we look to move to a less populated and less homeless infested area.

My small street of about 20 houses has had about a 1/4 of these turned over to Californians the last 5 years. Some are conservative escaping the CA circus, but not all of them.

The county I am in was very conservative in late 90's and early 2000's. Now our city and county commissioners are 100% democrat. That will tell you something.

It’s funny how having money in your pocket can make you happy. You can build a badass setup on a huge lot in BR, pay for expensive private school, live in a bubble for the same money that you’d be middle low class in CA.

People seemingly don’t understand this. They don’t understand how expensive it is to live in California and how cheap BR is relative to Ca.

I didn’t say I believed that. Can you not read? I’m just saying it’s not as black and white as all you CA haters make it out to be.

Just found this report, not sure how legitimate it is, but according to this it is more conservatives. The thing that makes me the most irate about it all is the absolute lack of self awareness around progressives views and votes and how it's creating the environment they're thinking about fleeing. But I guess does the locust consider its previous actions before moving on to the next green field to destroy it?

2022 Report on Leaving California

quote:

Conservatives are much more likely than liberals to think about moving out of California

Percent who have considered moving
Out of state

Very liberal 26
Somewhat liberal 28
Middle-of-the-road 39
Somewhat conservative 46
Very conservative 45

Within state

Very liberal 12
Somewhat liberal 12
Middle-of-the-road 8
Somewhat conservative 6
Very conservative 8

ETA: Keep in mind that while those percentages for conservatives are a lot higher, it's of a much smaller subset of the state. So there are still many more liberals leaving overall than conservatives. Just gotta do progressivism "better" at their next stop!
