re: How much input did you have on your child's first name?

Was about a 50/50 decision.
I made fun of all the names I didn't like. We compiled a list of names we liked and mulled them over for a few weeks. Shrunk the list to 4 names we both liked, and used middle name combos to come to the final decision.
Edit: The wife is pretty religious, and so is my family, so we both agreed to stick to traditional names with Catholic backgrounds.

I know the poem and no shite it's not your real name.
It was just ironic to have someone with a SN exactly like the one he was bitching about being so horrible.

I'll catch hell for this, but I pretty much named my son. First and middle name.
His name's Hayden. He's 16 now. I named him this before everyone named their kids Hayden, Jayden, and Braiden and all that.
The only other person I knew at the time named Hayden, was Craig T. Nelson's character on Coach. That's where I got the name from. Always like the name.
His middle name is after my grandfather who was just an amazing man. Miss him still. He died from pancreatic cancer when I was 16.

Discussed it but the wife usually made the call.

Might have been a rerun.

We found names we both agreed on, thankfully I didn’t marry a trashy chick that wanted a unique name.

Murdered his wife in the pool?

I came up with my daughters name from a song I loved. It was unique as we knew no one with that name but was short for a longer version of the name that was more popular. Wife loved it and so does my daughter. Only trouble is that Amazon loved it too and used it on their smart speaker. She hears lots of jokes about it now from young men trying to engage her in conversation. And no pics...

2 wives, 4 kids. We agreed on my names.

My child is named after one of my relatives, and my wife was 100% cool with it.

Picked her middle name too, found ways that kids would pick on other names we considered.

We debated on a name all the way up to the week of his birth. Not really debated, but couldn't decide on a name that we really liked. Then the name just hit me and we both really liked it.
We did do a different spelling than what most think when they hear the name, but it's the traditional Irish/Welsh spelling. I never wanted to do the unique spelling thing, but it made sense for us. It's only unique as it's not the more common spelling here in the states, though I've seen plenty with the same name/spelling.

she gave me a list of names, I picked from it.

If she wants unique, name him James Tiberius Kirk or she can frick right off.
My husband gave both our kids their first names. He wanted James Kirk. I compromised and went with Kirk and my maiden name (which sadly has since become a travel ball name) as middle.
He told me the day I found out I was pregnant with my daughter that she would be a girl and what her name would be. I said aight, and gave her my middle name.

Don't do that shite. If the name hasn't been used in the history of man, there's probably good reason

A lot of input for the first two. Two girls with traditional Irish names. Third is on the way. I am fighting for the boy’s name. If it is a girl, then my wife can name her whatever she wants.
