How much input did you have on your child's first name?

My wife really wants us to compromise on a name, but I don't see that happening. She wants a "unique" name and most of them are hard no by me. I am at the point now where I want to say screw it, name him Ryder,Brantly, or some other white trash name that is unique.

You want unique? How about Howard or Ralph. I bet there won't be any others in his class.

I got all the last names. I got a first name for my daughter and a middle name for my son.

We both had to like the name

Surely y'all can find 1 name that both of you like, right?

I said what name I really liked and my wife agreed right away. Probably the easiest decision we've ever made together. Now, had she been a boy....

First born son will be the 4th. That is not negotiable. Divorce will come before I let any of my kids be given some travel ball or white trash name.

Sack up. Traditional name or gtfo

Hasn't she seen the names of kids these days? Traditional names are now unique.

50%. We both knew we didnt want some dumb New Iberia white trash name for our kids. We wanted something that was short, easy to spell, and easy to pronounce.

He’s named after me so I had a lot to do with it because I’m not a subservient little bitch.

If your wife is even considering those names then you've already lost the battle

Tell your wife if she wants to exercise her creative side, she should draw a picture, or pick up an instrument, or write a damn book.
Do your kid a favor and give them a normal name. Theres enough Brantleys in the world already.

A lot. My wife and I came up with a small list and we also wanted a unique name. but by unique, I don't mean some made up arse name. Just an uncommon one.

We looked through sveral name books looking at older less common names, found a handful we liked and decided on one that worked with my last name and the middle name we'd decided on.

Our second son was harder, in that I REALLY wanted one name and she really didn't like it. I settled and went with the one we wanted, which was fine and like his older brother an older name you don't hear often. Once a week I purposefully call him by the name I wanted to use just to make him laugh and my wife sneer at me...

Sounds like you need to let your wife pick out the name so your boy will fit in better with his future travel ball team.

I have secured the name of the first born son (gonna be the IV). Anything after that is collaborative. Luckily, she really likes traditional names, so I don't think we are going to butt heads at all.

For the first name, I printed off the top names from social security records. We each marked off the names we didn't like. We had about 10 remaining names that matched. We decided from there.

Middle name had been set 9 generations back.
