My wife really wants us to compromise on a name, but I don't see that happening. She wants a "unique" name and most of them are hard no by me. I am at the point now where I want to say screw it, name him Ryder,Brantly, or some other white trash name that is unique.

If by unique she means some made up bullshite then by all means. Give into her.

Just remind her that none of the stupid shite these people are coming up with these days can be considered unique anymore. There are entire trailer parks and travel ball teams full of "unique" Breighleighs and Zaydens.

This is one time where you absolutely have to put your foot down.

Unless she wants to name him Danger. Then you say, frick yeah, and raise that badass kid.

If she wants to spell it Dangyr or Daingyrr though, foot back down.

I basically named him.

We always knew the middle name was going to be the first name of one of our great-grandparents. If it was a boy, the middle name would come from my side. If it was a girl, the middle name would come from her side.

When we found out we were having a boy, I thought about names for about a day.

I mentioned the first and middle name, and she liked the sound of it and went with it.

First born is named after me. For the others, we both wanted classic names, so to narrow it down, we went through our family trees until we found one we both liked.

Not that we had any deep reasoning for family names, it was just an easy way to narrow it down. I'd start there and expand if you don't like any of them. It's certainly easier to swallow a unique name if it's based on a grandparent, great grandparent, etc.

We had a deal that I get to name the boys with no veto authority from my wife, family names. For our girls, she wrote 5 down, I could strike one name, and she pick from the remaining 4.

not a problem for us, we both liked the idea of using names already in the family. You can do this and still have an uncommon name

I had my son's name picked out long before I was married. So I had 100% input on his name. My wife pretty much picked our daughter's name with my approval.

We compromised and named him first name John, middle name Ryder. And he'll go by Ryder.

I don't mind Ryder as bad as Jaxon or some of the others out there that scream for an affliction shirt and hair gel from birth.

Dude, you chose a word that is not a name, then fricked with the spelling of that word.

It's just as trashy as Jaxon.

Both of my kids’ names were my idea, so I’m satisfied.
