How much effort are you willing to put in to being polite?

I just decided that I'm willing to be polite twice when dealing with a customer service position.
You are given two attempts to be competent.
After that, you're the dregs of humanity to me. And I kind of want to strangle you.

I have certain expectations depending on the place
I don't expect the same service at a breakfast diner that I would get at a high end streak restaurant

It's usually pointless to argue with these people because they're not using logic, and they have no power. I usually figure out who has the power to actually help me and talk to them rather than have a meltdown because of some minimum wage dunce.

My momma drilled into my head at a young age that the worst humiliation you can bring upon yourself and your family name is to be thought of as being rude.

But I also am smart enough to know it's not worth my time to deal with someone who isn't polite, so that's just an instant ignore and/or on to the next person who can help.

I’m usually pretty patient and polite, but the other day at lunch the guy at the counter had no idea what he was doing. I’m not sure if he was high, or just an idiot. Then my table’s meals came out staggered, one came about 10-15 minutes after the other two. While we were all eating, the idiot from the counter proceeded to drop a slice of pizza face down on my new jacket. My patience and politeness left the building at that point.

The older I get the more I force myself to ignore the stupid shite that jerks and jerkettes do and am more polite than I need to be. So, I am up there on the polite meter.

Look here fricker, I was polite and tried to explain a logical solution to a woman... When she refused to follow a simple chain of events to the only intelligent solution, I walked off.
This bitch literally got two employees to follow me
I wasn't rude.
