$1750/month. It’s a lot but more like a school than a daycare. One child, 5 days a week. DFW

Just wait until you get to start shopping Dallas private schools. The stories and numbers I have heard from people I know that live there are hard for me to wrap my head around.

My ex GF owned a daycare. After rent, utilities, insurance, food costs, payroll, supplies, etc, its not the money-maker that everyone thinks it is. Plus dealing with low paid staff, state inspections, disgruntled parents, can be a PITA.

She took an offer from someone to buy the business, she accepted the offer and got a job running the before school and after school program at a Christian school. She made less money, but her stress level greatly decreased.

My 9mo old goes to a nice at-home day care. It’s about $1500/mo on average, only a block from my house, and only 4 kids total so he’s not coming home with the plague every other week.

He was set to go to a center until we found and got into this place like 2 weeks before parental leave ended. That would have been $2000/mo, a half mile away, and a Level 4 biological warfare laboratory.

Extremely happy with how things worked out.

$800 for one and like $150 for aftercare at school for the older one. Next school year I'll be down to two aftercares.

Saw a movie where a guy hired a babysitter instead of sending kids to childcare. It was more of a scene than a movie but, it worked out well for the dad in the end.

Caretakers are generally out of shape, lazy people imo. They do not take care of themselves so how am I going to trust them with my kid? That being said, if a place doesn't offer a camera view you can look at any time of the day then tell them to kick rocks

$28,800 a year? Was this some tricked out day care?

it's a very nice Montessori school in a nice neighborhood in the burbs. It was by far not the most expensive place around either. However, the Kids R Kids/Discovery/et around here are going for $1100 anyways.

Also, its more of a school than a daycare...

$1200/mo for one kid.

Me and the wife (no pics) are discussing having a 2nd kid but $2400/mo for two kids is tough since I'm not an O-T baller.

$850/month for one kid and that's only because we get a steep discount through my wife's job.

$1150/mo for our middle kid. The oldest cycling out was a pay raise, but now the youngest is set to cycle in at the new year.

I'm at $2161/mo in Maryland outside of DC. Yes, just one kid costs as much as a mortgage. 1:3 ratio of teachers to infants.

$975 for all day preschool. In the Birmingham area, that’s fairly high.

I think we pay just $175 weekly or so in Alabama for 1 kid- I'm not in the Birmingham or Huntsville area though.
