Agreed and daycare can be crazy competitive.

Must suck for parents with li'l badass kids. I wonder if those kids are resigned to attend daycares for other badass kids.

We help out as grandparents, but I'm certain they still pay a lot.

$2,100 a month and it includes 2 meals and 3 snacks…it’s a fck ton and the first one we could get into and we waited 5 months…the cheaper options still haven’t even called us back for their wait lists and it’s been 6 months since they started.

Indeed. I paid a woman to watch my kids for $100 per week. Sent their food and snacks and she also gave some. Then at 3, started prek at Catholic school for like whatever that tuition was. Much cheaper than a daycare.

A lot of these numbers make me wonder how it makes sense for the mom to even work, unless she is like a very high earner.

Makes me wonder how the average Joe with mortgage, car payments and child daycare/schooling is making it. Much less saving for retirement!

20k a year for 2 kids, Jefferson parish. Breakfast lunch and 2 snacks included. also have a camera app and an app where they put in daily info and pictures, sometimes videos. I would say B level daycare. Would like to put them in one that teaches more but they are all closed for to many days ours only closes 9 days a year.

We've got 3. Ages 8,3, and 2. Moving our oldest and our middle to private school next year and it is going to be less expensive than 2 in daycare currently.

Its a racket.

$950/month (that was with a discount for being a member of the church where the daycare was ). But this was in 2017 for one kid. It doesn't surprise me at all seeing these $1500/month or more prices itt.

Do they still have one or two wives in neighborhoods who watches kids. You pay them $200 in cash, they have around 4 or 5 kids.

We did this with a family in Ascension early on, but the issue is they kept growing “the business” and had zero checks and balances when it came to illness, so stomach flu tore through for a solid 8 weeks before we had to move to an official daycare.

They also didn’t engage the kids once they took on too many people, so it was just a room full of infants and toddlers watching Cocomelon all day.

Oh, and they also adopted pits. Seriously.

(And if either of you read this, I still think you’re lovely people)

It  was like ~$2400/mo for both kids. Let me just say, the day they both started elementary school was awesome.

I'm sure you researched and vetted for safety, moral grounding, overall quality and then BOOM off to the public school system. The best public schools are some of the worst social environments. NEVER risk your kids in public. Small Classical Christian produce the best educated because the environment is controlled and conducive for learning.

On your death bed instead of thinking about all the wonderful memories you had with your kids you can look at your Nov 2023 bank statement and be happy knowing you saved a few bucks by not having kids.

Just found out our daycare is closed on Friday for observation of Veterans Day

All of the random holidays that daycare takes off (but we don't have off work) is really annoying...not to mention all the little germy kids getting each other sick every week. Don't know how people do it without family or a strong support system close by.
