My wife manages teachers and is sick and tired of it. I tell her all the time that she and a few of her teacher friends need to quit and start a daycare because that’s where the real money is at!

Mine was right around that much for year round day care at a decent day care. Since mine has been in elementary school, price has been more than cut in half

boys go to local church preschool 9-1 T, W, Thur, and it's $550 and change a month, total for both, not each. Best money I spend for a little break. Very very well run and educational--not just babysitting. After tax benefits it's nothing.

$1750/month. It’s a lot but more like a school than a daycare. One child, 5 days a week. DFW

Prior daycare was around $1400/month. This was generally the lower end of the scale for my area.

I doubt it. Between the fees, licensing, insurance, I bet there isn't much profit in it.

It definitely was another mortgage at one point. We are highly considering my wife going part time, to alleviate that cost. Will still need summer camp.

I think it's 800 or 850 for 1 kid. The hospital my wife works at is large enough they have their own daycare center for their employees. It's nice because all the kids in there have at least 1 parent apart of the hospital network

I don't understand how somebody with 5 kids affords daycare

In houston it was $1,600. In St Francisville area it was $975 for one kid. Each additional kid is half price. Just got out of daycare, now money goes towards sports and extra curricular activities. Kids are a money pit. They are amazing tho!

Gotdam I never knew it was this much. My wife stayed home with our kids. Thats insane.

Oh and if the daycare needs to close, say for a weather day or other issue, their teachers and staff don’t get paid. And your tuition isn’t prorated.

It’s a fricking racket. I’m sure there are plenty of fees, insurance costs, and other governmental red tape to pay for. But when I think about my daughter’s single 4K class having 13 kids, that’s ~$150k/year of tuition income just for that one class. There are two classes per preschool “grade,” and it’s 3K-5K. At a million dollars a year in revenue, I’m curious where a lot of that money goes. Not to mention the fundraisers, supplies fees, and registration fees.

It’s in a church by the way. So it’s not like they have to pay extra rent.
