Less this year than ever. It's just my 3 nephews, sister/BIL and mom. My mom built a shed last year so I over did it last year intentionally to help with some tools, cabinets, etc so we agreed to do less this year.

I end up spending about $120 on each nephew, sister, and brother in law. About $400 on my mom this year. I also bought a rifle to keep at my moms so all of us can use it when we are there instead of having to bring our own each time we visit.

I ended up buying myself ski touring gear. $2500. I had been looking the last 3 years but was always intimidated by it because it's going to be new for me. I finally decided to pull the trigger this year.

And it didn't really break the bank thanks to a ton of overtime we don't usually budget for.

Me: (the finance keeper in our house) "Honey, what is your dollar estimate for our Christmas gift giving this year"

Honey: " whatever it's gonna take"

Me: OK....I estimate about $3K for about 15 folks,,,grandkids get more than kids and nieces/nephews etc

I start in the summer because my family is huge so it doesn't all hit the pocket book at one time. Our children are all grown with adult jobs and mortgages now so suddenly they are less interested in exchanging gifts Which is fine. Our family is more about unique gifts and experiences than dollar amounts anyway.

I only buy gifts for my 3 kids.

Any brothers and sisters, we decided years ago to just get kids gifts and stop buying each other cheap stuff that we won’t really use.

My wife and I pretty much have everything we need, and it's just the two of us. I spent about $200 total.
