How much demand is there for new escalators these days?

With the shopping mall model dying, where else will need new escalators? Most large airports are established and probably don’t need new installations (plus many others are single story). You don’t really see them in hotels?
Where else would they go? Maybe new stadiums?

How many new subways are being built though?
Replacing old ones maybe I could see. New Office buildings? Not sure.

A couple of people I knew worked in the sears tower. They had to take 3-4 different escalators once they got within like 4 floors of their final destination.
Every building I’ve ever worked in for big boy jobs had escalators

This is an odd, out of the blue question. Have you been offered a position at Schindler or Otis?

Just watching dead mall stuff and thinking about the old saw about wagons and wagon wheel makers. It is interesting to think about these under discussed economic disruptions that are happening.
Remember how people used to make devices that just rewound VHS movies? That sorta thing.

Are you worried about escalators or something?

An escalator can never be broken. It can only become stairs -Mitch Hedberg

I can't imagine that malls were ever the major customer. Mixed use buildings (light commercial/retail in the lower floors, mezzanines, with elevators serving the upper floor office, apartment or condo space), hotels, airports. From a square footage standpoint, I bet far more buildings require escalators than don't.
This is like saying, "who will need fire escapes".

You are dumb. So bc you feel shopping malls are dying, that means escalators are no longer needed. Think about this for a minute. Then think about how the rest of the world is smarter than you.

Hopefully none. If people would take the stairs there would be a lot less fatties.

The Ameristar casino in Vicksburg needs a new one bad. The one going up from the sports book has been out of commission atleast 2 months

God damn you got me thinking. Wtf keeps the escalator business afloat?

I'm a sales rep for a major escalator company. Business is up and down

A lot of really nice hotels have a 2nd floor conference area where you take escalators to to not take the elevators from guest.
