I have three email accounts (one work, two personal), my text messages notifications and my phone notifications are all on my phone’s home page.
If I see any of the five has an unread/unseen message, I process it.
So zero as the answer.
I’m zealous about unsubscribing and reporting spam.

Until literally yesterday, over 12K. I googled how to mass "mark all read" and it turns out it's way easier than I thought.
Work email, family email, text messages, and WhatsApp are at zero every day.

My gmail is fine, but i have a Yahoo email account which was my primary account for many years .. at last count , it has over 400,000 unread emails.. not that bad i guess, considering the yahoo email account was created by an ex-gf of mine when i was in college in the year 1999….. i still check it every so often, but obviously most things that are important now go to my gmail account .

The ones from today, about 10. Why have an email if you're not reading the messages in it? Do you even unsubscribe, bro?
15,488.
Many are things I want to get notice of, but don't need to actually read. Tons of stuff from places that send too many emails, I don't need to read every sale they have, but I don't want to unsubscribe, occasionally I see some thing I want.
I go through occasionally to delete some, but it's more work, I might delete something I want by accident, and after 20 minutes, I'm down to 7,345 - so what's the point?
Oh, and I write some code for automating things around the house - I get at least three emails a day from my sump pump, just to report status, and extras if there is extra activity that meets a trigger. I don't need to read them, the basic info is in the subject.

I’ve hit mark all as read a couple times over the years.

0 right now. It'll sometimes get up to 30 or so before I go thru them. I check my email at least 10x a week

Never end a day with more than ZERO.
How can anybody take for it to be any other way?

Zero, 6 in the inbox, all read

It always says 99+. I'm not sure how you get a total count, but 99.99% are unread. That account is for things that are basically junk, things you don't want clogging up your actual primary email, but occasionally you need to dig up something from it.
On my actual primary email account, usually less than a handful of things are unread. Unread emails are either new, or something I want to follow up on.
