Simple race reference is a miss I think, in my experience there.

Culture and mindset (Societal, not racial) difference better explains the differences (murders and violent crime).

The US beams aggression, power, might, chest beating, indoctrinated hyper competitiveness (range of and stage of life competitive sports…from youth), flag waving, saluting guns, etc. If you are thinking “amen, brother”, you hear me.

This bleeds into a numbness for others…as I think it is perceived from world outside US. The ‘us vs them’ means something different in US. It sets the stage for an attitude of living with road rage (so to speak).

On the other hand, the mindset of many of these EU countries see life differently. I quote “I like living in a society that supports its most vulnerable” (A Brit who lives in NL). Sees higher taxes as his civic duty. At his center is care for his fellow citizen. Agree or not with his political view, this is a fundamentally different mindset on the whole.

Don’t see proliferation of mega mansions (they are there but the top is not the beacon of light in the same way). Don’t see the low end hoods in expansive way as US (they are there but definitely a noticeable difference).

All to say, I think the aggression vs compassion mindset (on the whole) and how people see their connection to others is a key difference in murders/violent crime between US and many EU (and many Asian) countries. The ‘us vs them’ is different.

This is not to say that all is well and perfect there. Mindset alone does not explain it. I do think it is predominant but not complete explanation for murder / violent crime rates. Race is woven in just like other places, and for reasons beyond just racism (economic, family strength, good and bad opportunity, etc).

If guns did not exist tmr, the US murder rate/violent crime rate difference from rest of world would continue…because attitude and mindset are fundamentally different - in self perception and societal reality.

The United Kingdom is made up of more than just England and Wales. The UK is England, Wales, Scotland, and Northern Ireland.

The UK is England, Wales, Scotland, and Northern Ireland.
Plus the separate Crown Dependancies (The Channel Islands & The Isle of Man) and the British Overseas Territories (Bermuda, the Falkland Islands, BVI, the Cayman Islands, Diego Garcia, Gibraltar, etc…)

These places constitute sovereign territory of the UK so I’mma call them the UK.

First question: how about rapes and stabbings?

Second question: can you afford to move to any of them?

Sorry, but Spain and France are not shite holes. You are sheep that only sees info sent to you by your personal algorithm. Large cities in both countries have the same problems that large cities in the US have. Once you get out of the larger cities in France and Spain, those areas are in general, superior to the US. Oh, and in before "why don't you move there, then".

None of them are shitholes. Parts quite the opposite.

That poster u r responding to is an algorithm parrot who has never left the U.S. or likely his/her pocket of pocket of pocket of it.

Independent objective mindset and critical thinking is extinct.

All protect freedom of speech but not absolute right. The following are not necessarily protected:

Hate speech
Defamation (libel laws are strong in UK)
National security related
Public order
Incitement to racial or religious hatred
Holocaust denial
Glorification of terrorism

If making fun of people who are Baptist, Catholic, or Muslim is important to you, perhaps best to go to church before going to these countries.

If you think those countries are so much better you're free to move there and never come back.
