I sing this to my dog regularly...

Thank You Lord for Mommy, and Daddy, and Kitties, and home.
Thank You for my food bowl, my water, my biscuit, and bone.

Never really thought about it, but I guess we (my family) do. When we want her to get away from one of us, we will say go see Mama, Daddy or Sister. Our boys we refer to by name.

Oh well.

My dog knows me as Dad. He’s good with that too.

Unless your dog is talking and solving kindergarten math problems, it might be smarter than like .1% of the human population, and that’s simply including the severely mentally disabled.

Look, I have a shepherd as well, and I love her to death. They look up to you as the alpha and master, not a father as a child would. And while we “don’t deserve them” as far as how humans treat one another, we also selectively bred them to act this exact way, so yeah we kinda DO deserve them. I love dogs so much, but comparing them to your own children is quite insane.

Im not sure why your directing this to me. I never compared my dogs to my children. You have your opinions and others have their opinion. If they treat their dogs like their own kids, so be it, if you cage yours, so be it. And yes my Belgian is a very intelligent dog. Her being smarter than some humans is probably accurate. We don't deserve them because of the un dying love and loyalty they give us. The never stay from it once they choose someone. Many people can't even sustain this, just look at all the hate in this world we create. Just because some people refer to their dogs as they own and give them happiness and not as a pet is their free will to do so.

I don't but one of my inside/outside cats is a female that only likes me. She won't even let my wife pet her. My wife calls her my girlfriend.

She does only like me and I think she's a little badass. Kills 6' snakes, mice and molested like a champ.

I think of my dog more as my friend. We are pals that spend our days together.

It was supposed to be moles like a champ. But if you guys on the OT want to run with it, I'm not going to edit it. She is a mole killer. She'll sit on a new mole hill for a few days until she finally marks and kills the bastard.

I might have slept with a woman or two that you could label a dog...

... but no I've never littered a brood of pups.

It is so not that fricking serious.

What do you think when someone says “my baby” when referencing their truck or something?

Again, my god it’s not that serious.

Probably because people don’t wish each other happy Mother’s Day over a truck like they do dogs

We definitely refer to each other as mommy and daddy around the dogs.

I agree 100% with post and cringe anytime I hear someone say "dog mom" or "cat dad" or some other variation. Humans OWN pets, they are not PARENTS to the pets. The pets are bound by the owner's wishes and demands, much closer to a slave than a child.
