And why not if you don’t?

I am 55 and don't really consider myself a credit card user. I have one and use it for Amazon purchases and a couple of small bills monthly because I don't like anyone being able to regularly charge my bank account. I do it for security reasons. I also will use it when I travel or am at a place that doesn't take cash. It is paid in full every month and I never get charged interest so I don't consider that using a credit card.

Nope, credit is quite excellent.

The same reason they pay all of their operating expenses.

That’s what had slowed down my credit card use and made me start carrying cash again. If the fee is >2%, I pay cash

Your debit card has the same procedures as a credit card

What bank are you with that doesnt debit your account from debit card transactions?

You're trying to word salad a simple concept that's easy to understand. You're trying to reference the dispute process...the security credit card offers happens before the dispute process, not during or after.

The name (credit vs debit) implies the greatest difference and why one is more secure than the other.

Yeah, I started carrying cash again which I hate but I do it. I don't want to get Zelle, Venmo, etc for the same reasons as I don't want debit cards.

I'll eat the CC fee if I don't notice it before a purchase but I'll do what I can to just not go back back in the future.

I even orderd two new books of checks this week so I may be pullig out my old college wallet pretty soon.

I FAFO'd the same in college and right out of college. And the worst part is I was taught better. I wasn't financially ignorant, I was financially irresponsible. As Dave Ramsey says, I paid my "Stupid Tax". It took years into adulthood to get back into financial stability.

Yeah I had no idea the importance of good credit at age 19-20. I just remember capital one sending me a credit card that I was “pre-approved” for wirh like a 2k limit. All I could think was I was about to have the best spring break ever when I was in my late 20s I pullled my credit for first time in years and it was sub 600. Crazy thing is that it didn’t take too terribly long to fix bc t hadn’t racked up a substantial amount of debt it was just that the few credit reporting accounts I had in my name by that time were mostly negative. I do recall at one point I couldn’t even open a checking account at one bank. Getting a credit card was impossible too. Had to get those secured ones where I’d give them 200$ and that was my limit. I got it sorted out though eventually and have almost an 800 score now. Live and learn. My parents never really talked about credit with me but I plan on making sure my kids know about it at an early age.

think paying interest on shite you buy is a flex?

I haven't carried a debit card in 10 years. I put pretty much everything on my credit card. I haven't paid interest one single time. Do you even understand how credit cards work? If you pay the bill in full each month, no interest is accrued. You COULD pay less than the balance, and then the remaining balance is then subject to interest after the due date of you statement passes. But that's the only time you pay interest. And although I've literally never not paid the full balance, it's another level of financial security because I at least have the option.

I paid mine off for the 15th time earlier this month. I have no intentions of ever using it again.

Only use my US credit cards when we travel. Most people here in Germany use cash or their debit card. Very uncommon to see someone use a credit card here.

I use credit cards as much as possible. Most of my purchases are made with Amazon rewards credit card, but large purchases are made with my Cabela’s card (over $1000).

I pay them off every month and reap the benefits of the reward points. Also I’ve found it’s easier to balance my check book and budgeting.

I’m 43 years old, married with two kids.

I dig my credit cards. The CC companies don’t dig me though. To them I’m a “ deadbeat “ by paying the full balance in real time. I suppose most here are too.

25 years experience and none of it matters because you still can’t read. I don’t think I’ve seen one person speak about the security of debit vs credit during the transaction process. Does money come out of YOUR bank acct when you use debit cards? Yes or no? Your career is irrelevant

That’s a stupid reason. If you’re paying off you statement balance each month you are building points, which is basically free cash for trips or other purchases.

I’m not opposed to credit cards, I just made the decision years ago to go with a LOC because I didn’t want an extra card with me. The rate was lower and I don’t have to worry about variability in my rate.

this. I keep a business card and an Amazon card. Amazon card for all purchases. Pay off every month. Any purchases that can wait I’ll put in my Amazon list and save them to purchase on prime day with my rewards.

Forgot to add. Amazon has gift cards. Sometimes if I need to make bigger purchases let’s say from Lowe’s, it’s worth buying the gift card to get 3x points.

Sounds like you use it as an actual loan which is different than what most in this thread use a credit card for
