Because while it’s in dispute with a bank, your money is gone until they give it back. When credit card charges are in dispute, you still have your money.

That doesn’t make it less secure, it just means it’s less convenient if something happens. Which might be a reason to choose credit over debit.

Credit score 805. Use them once a year so they dont get canceled and pay off the balance immediately.

You think paying interest on shite you buy is a flex?

Dumbass.

It’s absolutely less secure because it can allow for direct access to your bank accounts so you’re more exposed.

The use of cash and credit cards offers more security because it’s detached and not linked to your bank.

It’s not really arguable.

Never tried reserving a hotel room without one, do they just put a hold on a certain amount on your debit or what?

Got around $600 cash back total sitting on both my main cards for a rainy day .

While that’s great, the amount of hotel and airfare you could be getting back would be waaaay more in total value.

I'm guessing that <=25% of folks use them in that manner. Other folks' poor decisions fund cash back and points.

If you can trust yourself to not go wild, there is absolutely zero reason you shouldn't put as much spending on your CC as possible to meet monthly expenditures.

Look at this smart guy. Doesn’t even know you pay your card off each month and pay more interest.
So your answer is you wouldn’t be able to control yourself with spending, so that’s why you don’t have one.

All of my business LOC’s fluctuate depending on the FED rate. What’s yours locked in for and is it secured or unsecured

It allows access to the account it’s linked to, which never has more than 500$ in it. That’s the limit of the exposure. My visa has a 38k limit, that would be my exposure there.

I don’t know if you’re missing or dismissing it but credit cards are not tied to ANY bank. Because of that, they are more secure.

You may want to debate the level of exposure based on account balance but that does not change the level of security.

You, obviously, are fine. However, someone who keeps a large checking balance is objectively more at risk of fraudulent mishaps when using a bank card as opposed to a credit card.

Especially if you use Amex.

I have a credit card. I only use it for gas and I never carry a balance. It adds up to a free flight every now and then with the points.

What benefits do you get from line of credit?

Also you don’t have 30 days to pay line without interest like a credit card

I still use a debit card some, particularly when there are fees for using credit, which seems like it's becoming more common lately.

We have 2 checking accounts, and our primary bill account has no debit card. This one is just for spending and rarely has more than $600-800 in it.

Depends on terms. Some will do it quarterly.

The only advantage to an LOC s if you need actual cash or need to write a check for something to avoid a credit card fee.

Other than that a credit card beats a line of credit in every scenario

If you use a lot of cashier's checks for whatever reason, it's much, much less hassle to get disbursements.
