I wasn’t really meaning to start this thread to mess with people who don’t used credit cards. I have no idea how you do travel without one so I was curious about how that works out.
Some guy on the political board started a thread yesterday asking if it was discriminatory for a business to not accept cash, so I was thinking about this as more and more places move away from case.

While that’s great, the amount of hotel and airfare you could be getting back would be waaaay more in total value.
Well sure.. I don’t have any trips planned at the moment.. that’s just a bare bones rewards summary for myself at the moment

Still charging you on daily balance

I use my credit card for literally everything expect my yard crew. And that’s only because they only take cash or check. Bills, groceries, models, everything. On the 15th & last week day of the month when I get paid, I pay off the balance and deposit the rest in a savings account except $100 because my wife is paranoid about not leaving $100 in checking.
I use Mastercard Venture for personal stuff and I have a Quicksilver card for business. The business card gets paid off monthly when I do my expense report.
I like doing it this way for three reasons:
1. The rewards on Venture & Quicksilver (that’s free model money)
2. get alerts anytime one of my cards are used, so there is no chance I’ll miss a fraudulent charge.
3. The only entity other than my bank that my checking account is exposed to is Capital One.

Because while it’s in dispute with a bank, your money is gone until they give it back.
When credit card charges are in dispute, you still have your money.
A lot of times we are talking about a stolen wallet or purse in which case the thieves are going to run both your credit and debit cards as much as they can unless you keep them separate and I doubt many people do that.

Between My Amazon Visa and Amex I put everything on the card and pay it off monthly.

I think most of the time they just steal your number. Maybe a fast food worker takes a picture of it, or you get hit with a gas pump skimmer.
We've had it happen to us 4-5 times with credit cards and once with debit and it was never a lost or stolen card situation.
Hell, it happened to us maybe a month ago. Somebody was paying their bills with my Chase card

I could be wrong but I think international travel can be a little tricky with which card to use when it comes to foreign transaction fees and currency conversions. Some banks and credit cards waive those fees while others don't. If you're planning a long trip or looking to spend a lot on the ground it may be worth it to explore your options.

It allows access to the account it’s linked to, which never has more than 500$ in it. That’s the limit of the exposure. My visa has a 38k limit, that would be my exposure there. What am I missing?
He’s broken it down pretty damn well for your fat head but you still can’t grasp it. So you’re exposed for $500 dollars, probably more because it’ll most likely be over drafted. You can have a credit limit of eleventy billion dollars and if someone spends it all, it what world are you ever going to pay that back with your own money? No world, is the answer. Therefore if your bank account loses $1 you are out $1 until a dispute is resolved. If your credit card loses billions you are out zero dollars because you’ll never agree to pay it. Got it now?
You’re also out all the opportunity of free rewards, given everything else is equal (you aren’t paying more for using credit), and you pay it off. It’s like refusing your 401k employer match for some reason… do you refuse your 401k match?
So you’re 100% doing it wrong because you’re more exposed, even if you don’t give a shite, it’s a fact, and you’re not maximizing your financial potential. It’s impossible to argue it any other way other than “I’m stubborn and gay”

That’s why I love my CapOne. Anytime something is charged to it, I get a pop-up alert on my phone within seconds showing who ran the charge and for how much.

I could probably set that up, but I think mine is only set to above $100 or so. I will say it was pretty easy to get the charges off once we identified the ones we didn't make. It took less than 5 minutes on the phone with the fraud department.

I didn't from age 30-40. Now I have a couple just for the rewards and the added layer of security. I use the Costco one the most.

I only keep one for emergencies. The reason is that I'm not poor and don't live beyond my means

I use one but pay it off at the end of the month and get the rewards.

If you think credit cards are for living beyond your means, then you’ve never learned how to use a credit card properly so it’s best if you continue to refrain from using them.

I use credit cards as much as I possibly can. They basically pay me to do it. It's kind of fricked up when you really think about it

They cute.
So what do you use when you book airline tickets, hotel rooms, or order stuff online?
