First I need to know how many ancient hunter gatherers it took.

depends......

do they know the name of TSwift's new album? 2 dozen

are they hoping the government forgives their student loans? 3 dozen.

were they still masking post 2020? i'd say at least 4 dozen.

do they find the :yogi: meme offensive? 5.5 dozen.

do they think Bill Maher is 'right wing'? 6 dozen should do it.

Which cities are the ones with only spears?

This could also be a pretty large range depending on which modern man you get. Are we loading the team up full of modern men with BMIs 30+, or with the crossfit/weekend warrior types that are at least somewhat athletic, and some may actually have experience hunting wild animals.

I grew up country as hell. But never did any spear or bear hunting of any kind. I’d rather have a big arse rifle (30-06 seems inadequate here). I wouldn’t take on a grizzly if you gave me 20 men with spears.

An interesting note here, in the real world, is that bear spray is much more effective at preventing a bear attack than firearms, to the tune of around 40%+ more effective.

I've been told if there are 5 horny beagles available that they may be used to cornhole the bear to death.

Spear hunting is more common than you may think- especially for hogs.

No it’s not. It’s irrelevant to this post anyway. But that’s completely assumed, and always has been. This is assuming 100% of the time that bear spray is deployed and usually 100% of the time that a fire arm is discharged. There’s plenty of times that guns are not fired, that are not taken into statistics.

Most charges are bluff charges. If you shoot a bear, you are more likely to piss it off and get charged.

100% of the time that someone is actually being attacked, I can promise they wish they had an actual firearm.

I’m all for bear spray, and it works. But it’s impossible to actually compare the two exactly. This is why most carry both. The next time a bear hunting guide carries only bear spray as back up, and not a gun, will be the first time.

Most people, yes even hunters, aren't proficient with a firearm under pressure. When there is more than one person and the one not getting attacked has a firearm, they're often hesitant to shoot for fear of hitting the person. Bear spray solves both of those problems. Bear spray is more useful in hiking situations, in camp situations, in most situations. Sure, a firearm can be effective in some situations, but there's more room for error with bear spray.

City slickers Alec Baldwin and Anthony Hopkins were able to do it with just the two of them and some wooden spears.

I don't mind it for hogs, just seems a shame to kill a black bear that way

What a jackass. There was nothing humane about that. I hope he didn't kill the bear and the bear came back and pulled his arse down from that stand and killed him.

and i'd build a spear trap similar to the one rambo made to kill the grizzly

or i'd bait a tree full of honey or something to attract the bear and when he inevitably starts scratching his back on the tree then i cut the rope i have suspending the tree i have in the air that will swing and crush the bear against the tree, much like what the Ewoks did in Return of the Jedi.
