Ironically, the only free radio I listen to is via streaming. The channel the Braves come on has such a shitty signal, I just use the 680 app or listen on SiriusXM. I listen to Auburn games the same way, either on the Auburn app or Sirius.
I love to sit by the fire and listen to sports, it's more enjoyable than TV announcers. Plus, fire and beer.

BTW, the song was “Mr. Charlie” originally performed by Lightnin’ Hopkins. The version KBON plays is by Clarence LeDay and the Outsiders. It’s from a cassette called "Miss You Like The Devil."
Ahh…thanks for that info. Been meaning to shoot Phil Daigle a message asking him why I can’t find that version on iTunes to buy. That makes sense now.
Dammit!

I do. American Family Radio, and some music.

FYI you can always email dj at kbon.com to ask the DJ on duty a question. I will say I am 1 for 2, so they don’t always answer. May have been a fluke.

Radio stations aren't even set in my truck
I'd not even thought about this but my 1.5 year old car has a radio that has never even been turned on. All I listen too are audio books, rarely CDs. I abandoned radio in the mid 80's.

99 percent of the time I listen to BR or national sports talk FM radio

I’ll never stop listening to radio.
Posted on 4/29/25 at 5:48 pm to sidewalkside
I listen to it in the car. 94.5, 95.5, 102.5, 107.9 etc.

680 The Fan (ATL Sports)
95.5 local news, weather, traffic, and some Erick Erickson/Von Haessler Doctrine
I used to enjoy NPR's variety shows, non political, but eventually even those became political so I haven't listened in years. Today's guest is Becky who won the apple pie contest, tell us Becky, what's your secret? Trump is orange Hitler inspired me to try a new type of cinnamon from a region of brown people that Trump wants to genocide.

we purchased an AM/FM dial radio 3/4 years ago because our BiL/SiL always demanded control of the bluetooth speaker to play shitty music. Just throw on a country gold or the local rock station. Everyone is happy.

I listen to it in my farm truck every day
105.7 classic country
106.7 classic rock
96.9 MS super talk

I’m still pissed 106.7 no longer has the John Boy and Billy show on every morning
Their skits always brightened my day with humor in the morning

I do. All the options on the phone gets overwhelming. Do I want to listen to podcast or music. If so, what podcast? What type of music? I listen to local sports talk, and turn it on the local hip hop or rock station.. sometimes country.

Local sports talk radio is the 2nd most listened to thing on the radio now, behind only country music. The Columbus ESPN affiliate is live and local from 6am-8pm, and they do crazy ratings.

My personal truck is a Tundra with its infamous snap-off antenna. Snapped mine off in the housing, and the only way to replace it requires taking off the right front fender and taking apart the passenger side door frame. So, it has been Bluetooth only since 2021. Maybe 98.1 if I'm close to BR, but that's about it.

Got my 11 year old a transistor radio over the weekend. Regular radio is blowing his mind, and that’s blowing my mind

Posted on 4/29/25 at 9:25 pm to sidewalkside
You mean “commercial” radio? That’s all that’s on the free stuff… hence why it’s free.

regular ole free radio...................Best time was winter of 1968. Fiance was SLC Hammond and I was LSU Br. At the end of the weekend between 1 and 3 in the morning the trip back was hard to stay awake, BUT clear channel radio had great country / western music . Played loudly

I do when I'm in the car. I've never been a big listener at home or other places.
