I've changed numbers a few times. My mama had the same land line number for a little over 20 years. She cut the line off in the early part of the year. I've had the damndest time calling her since.

Cell phone since 2001. We had a home phone for about 10 years (business line) that we disconnected 2 years ago. I still remember my original home phone, and my first ‘my house’ phone, and our last land line phone.

21 years. I have an area code that is very different from where I live. No one answers my calls at first if they don’t have my number saved.

22 years.

Other things of note bearing the number of 22 years in age: first born child and my marriage. Weird.

**Not that there's anything wrong with that.

Same number since my first phone. Pre-flip phone. Thinking 16 years. I’m not sure cell phones were around before then.

Hand held cell phones starting gaining popularity in the early 90s and by the late 90s were in widespread use.

20 years. I got my number through PrimeCo, where they allowed you to stand at their computer and choose your own phone number.

I’ve also hopped around through VoiceStream and Cingular, along with the companies they eventually became. Have T-Mobile today, and although the service is the worst I’ve ever had, it is hard to beat $120 all-in flat rate per month for four lines with unlimited text, voice and data for all of North America.
