Ben Hur road maybe.

A lot of people are packing up and moving to Prarieville and beyond. The traffic has become a nightmare for that side of town though.

This thread is so depressing. Really sad what BR is becoming.

Great 25 years ago. Best young family neighborhood in Louisiana. Now there are no more young families and trash has been moving in. It’ll be a shite hole in 10 years.

I’ve been trying to get my parents to bail after 35 years before it’s too late.

It you want to stay in that area then move over to Lake at White Oak or White oak Landing area. Lots of walking trails and homes have kept their value

Generally east side of Antioch is newer then the west side. Houses I. The back have a higher price per sq foot value

Front of the subdivision are 1970s houses while last filing was general Forrest in back around 1990.

Grew up on Chadsford (81-97). It was a great neighborhood to grow up in. We actually rode our bikes to school. I knew someone on virtually every street back then. I love going back for the nostalgia but it is definitely aging. I can’t speak on the crime part but some of the houses are getting old for sure. There are newer nicer neighborhoods but you could also do way worse in BR.

It’s never been in Baton Rouge. It would be in St. George

If you can wait till April we can sell you our house haha. Not many available in neighborhood currently. We live in the southern portion of the neighborhood near the elementary school. It's pretty quiet there and we've been spared from burglaries.

I'd avoid the northwestern part of the neighborhood. The quadrant west of Antioch, east of Jones Creek, North of and including Chickamagua, and south of George O'neal. On Nextdoor it seems like every single burglary takes place in that quadrant.

The surrounding areas like O’Neal and coursey and Sherwood have been declining but in the actual subdivision itself, Shenandoah has a ton of young families with kids moving in. When we left, it was older people whose families had grown up but those people are outnumbered by younger families now. Within the bubble, it’s safe, which is all you can hope for in BR at this point

How much are you willing to pay?

There are plenty of nice neighborhoods nowhere near on the decline, but they’re not Sherwood prices.

The areas around the old golf course are very nice. Stay away from the main boulevards in the back near the elementary school. All in all very nice neighborhood with lots of good people.

check out Bluebonnet Terrace, Jefferson Terrace, or any of the other little mini-hoods in that area. Its enormous, quiet, and somewhat walled off/unknown for being right so close to the mall and interstate

I grew up in Shenandoah close to SMHS. That area around the school and back to Harrells Ferry is still pretty nice. That area includes the newer part of Shenandoah, White Oak Landing and Lake at White Oak. SOme homes have been updated too. You will always get a nice back yard and your home won't be a cookie cutter. I love that area but there are suspect areas in the neighborhood that you need to be careful of. And of course there is some ghetto areas near oneal.
