I grew up on wilderness (83-94). road my bike all over the neighborhood as well. We likely crossed paths.
I grew up on Monitor (88-95). There was a house two doors down from me that had 5 kids. The girl was a day younger than me. We played all the time. It was always a group of 6 kids riding bikes all over the damn place. Good summer memories for me.

In BR schools are awful. But let’s be honest all the Br surrounding area schools are the same. Ascension same as EBR schools, zachery is trending downwards quickly and just as bad since they started making football the priority and stopped kicking kids out of school who were issues so they could continue to win at football and get the donor checks. Central schools haven’t been good for years.
Now property value
Shenandoah won’t have good resell and they allow section 8 housing which started the great decline. Any place outside of Br will be a pain with traffic and resell since flooding is a major issue and your life half your life in the car. I would look at kenilworth, garden district, good wood, 100 oaks, Tara, Southdown. Even broadmore and Sherwood Forest are better options than shaneadorah

I’m sure we know a lot of the same people. I broke my arm falling off my bike while getting chased by teenagers on Wilderness circa 1991. Either at Malvern Hill or Hogenville lol

Just look as far south and as far east as you can afford.

You should be fine.

Have you given any thought to where you'll send them to school?

There's truth to this.

Draw a box from South Harrell's Ferry as far east as you can go, to Jones Creek To tiger Bend and there has been more new growth than negative decay over the last decade.

There are a couple of pockets that if you get rid of, would change everything. Even still, it's not bad. You'll find the same little pockets in other nice areas of BR. Frankly, I love that area of town. It's underrated.

Shenandoah has a ton of young families with kids moving in. When we left, it was older people whose families had grown up but those people are outnumbered by younger families now.

That doesn't mean much. It's the quality of people you have to worry about that are moving in. Young or old it doesn't really matter.

Aren’t central schools some of the best in state? That’s what I’m trying to decide is can I handle the 45 minute drive to central everyday or live in BR?

Right now houses are going for $50-$100k more than they were 3 years ago. They don’t even last a week without going pending, especially if the house is reasonably updated

As far as LA public schools go Central is usually in the top 5. Does it really take 45 min with the thruway? I know when my grandparents were still alive we could make it out there in 15-20 min but granted I have no idea what rush hour is like anymore.

The thruway is great. O'Neal to the Florida Crossing and old hammond are terrible.

People pretend like they don't have a suspension at all when crossing Florida, and that's after sitting on their phone till it's almost yellow.

From women’s hospital at 4:30-5 you are looking at 45 min average. In the morning it isn’t to bad. 30 mins tops.

In 1992, my parents moved to Shendoah on Stones River Drive. The neighborhood was very nice. My parents had awesome neighbors including former WBRZ meteorologist, Bruce Katz.

At the time, the neighborhood was safe and there were a lot of upper middle class folks. Now, I have no idea but Jones creek area does seem to be aging and going downhill.

Green Trails, bro', Green Trails, but save enough dough to send your kids to Most Blessed Sacrament, Parkview Baptist, or St. Jean Vianney. However, it's going to be grand when this area is the Crown Jewel of St. George, LA 70817.
