It’s likely an addiction. You wouldn’t dump someone struggling with alcoholism. Not someone you love anyway.

It's usually the animosity that comes from the deception and arguing. People with addictions rarely accept blame or take responsibility

Unkess you have young children, are sick or have kids who are sick, shagging on a weekly basis -better if its multiple times a week- and the couple will stay connected.

Its worse with kids involeved.. So many stay togather even those they dispise each other just for the kids which is more unfair to them than if they just separated.............

most of the cases i have witnessed are simply a woman uses a man for food and a place to stay while raising kids, after that she no longer has to pretend because she never loved him to begin with and the years of "putting up with BS" by and from both of them, turns into that festering hatred.

95% of the hatred is cause by the actions of the woman, most guys arent very demanding so its not like they are high maint

I think the thing women want is attention. Sadly, Men tend to be neglectful.

Men tend to want to be left alone. Sadly, women tend to be naggers.

It tends to cause conflict. I've been married 27+ years so I'm an expert....

On exactly one marriage.

it can be difficult to keep that romantic mood going

ive seen a couple of marriages fall apart because of that

Honestly, this is more understandable every day of my life.

Hatred, divorce, and selfishness are all extremely easy.

Love, marriage, compromise, and forgiveness is extremely difficult. Worth it, and absolutely necessary for solid relationships, but no one ever said it was easy.

I’m not one to judge but I can’t imagine tossing my wife because of some shopping.

$30-60k is not "some shopping"

also, it shows a complete lack of respect for the other party and likely they hid it for a long time. add those to destroying your financial being for 10+ years and that's much worse than sticking your dick in something else

And does that even resolve the debt?

no, but it's very likely not the only time something like this happens

To answer the OP's question: Hate is not the opposite of love. Indifference is. When someone has such intense emotional feelings for someone else, that level of emotion doesn't usually go away. But it can change to deep resentment, jealousy or hatred. Rarely does a true deep-seated emotion just trickle away to apathy.

It's usually the lying or the lack of trying to quit that dooms a marriage.

Because of sex alone? Or the wife blew up and didn't try to get it back after kids?

If their marriage can't work through pure sexual issues after kids it seems like it was probably a bad issue to begin with.
