The 36% is the obesity rate, from what I'm gathering in his posts. I assume his OP is referring to not just obese people, but also medically overweight (different classification) people. Which brings the percentage higher than 36%.

They do. But I also mentioned socioeconomics. Not everybody can afford a gym.

What about small towns? What is someone supposed to do in small town LA where there are no gyms. The answer is exercise outside. Unfortunately, the heat kills the enjoyment of it.

I’ve recently vacationed to San Diego and Seattle. I was more active than ever in those places. I was never worn down from heat.

Correct, 36% are land whales. In my estimation, at least 60% are fat, out of shape, and susceptible to health risks.

How small does a town have to be to not have a gym? Places like Winnsboro and Natchitoches have more than one option and places with only a thousand people have a $10 gym. This is a BS excuse for an entire state, where a large majority of the stats population is in like 8 places, that is full of lard asses

I agree there. That's probably about a 25 BMI, I am just a tad over 6', using 6' and my winter weight of ~185 is also about a 25. While that is on the low end of "overweight" people give me the stink eye when its January and I am bitchin about being 185, almost nobody in the south thinks that is remotely overweight. When I get down to my in season weight of about 168 people start telling me I need to gain weight.

That probably actually ADDS to the fatness because no one wants to do anything outside for 3 months a year.

BMI is accurate for the vast majority of people.

My BMI is 20 points off my body fat %

If it was accurate I wouldn't sink like a stone in the pool

I've seen just as many fatties in oregon.

And what blows my mind when I see them, is that they're always walking down the highway, on what appears to be a lengthy trek.

You might think that, but no, you haven't.

My sister has lived all over Oregon for nearly a decade and I've been a bunch. There aren't CLOSE to as many fat people.

Lots more weirdos though, that's for sure. Portland is basically another planet.

No part of the state gets a consistent breeze, but the coastal regions and NOLA are def a little more humid than say Alexandria or Shreveport.
