Having 50 million followers on social media at 16 sounds like a great way to end up murdered.

In the "TikTok world," she's known by at least 110 million members because that's the number of followers she has on the app, which is about 30 million more than anyone else.

She's a cute girl, a good dancer, and has charisma. No, it doesn't make sense that someone with the talent equivalent of a good high school cheerleader should have that kind of following, but in our world plenty of people catch lightning in a bottle (or have the right connections) and achieve fame way beyond their skill or talent.

Teens and pre-teens will always make the dumbest of shite “famous” because their infant brains don’t yet realize they’re watching straight garage and their minds are easily moldable and entertained.

It’s crazy how much the world has changed and that a 16 yr old would have so much influence. However, you may not see her talent but obviously others do and if she was only a good high school cheerleader, why don’t more cheerleaders make millions a year? Even if her only talent is getting people to click a follow button, she obviously has a great talent.

First of all, I said she's talented. I just don't think she's one-in-a-million talented. There are plenty of pretty teenage girls with big personalities who can dance. A lot of them can sing, too, and (as far as I know) D'Amelio doesn't sing a bit.

Second, making it big in the entertainment industry often requires good fortune, the right timing, the right connections, etc. And once you get name recognition, that's often as important as anything. If you changed D'Amelio's last name to Smith and erased her from memory, could she start over from scratch and duplicate the circumstances that led to her fame and 110 million followers in less than two years? Probably not.

Boy bands have been obtaining this level of fame for decades. Hell LeeAnn Rhimes was topping country charts with a learner’s permit over 25 years ago.

These people get in these groups usually with an older male running it and they push video after video.

Add the pandemic and no school at times, teens eat that shite up.

This is like the teen pop or boy band craze type shite from before.

Is that pretty much what she does? Just about any kid could do something like that. How does somebody doing things like that catch fire like she did? It seems so random. There’s got to be more to it but I haven’t a clue.
