You get that you want a wedding celebration
The difference is, no money spent on dress, flowers, catered dinner, etc. It's so much money for nothing but stress and frustration, for a few hours. Never made sense to me, and I hate being the center of attention so I have truly not been one to dream about a wedding.
I'm literally talking a few hours at a family-friendly brewery, people wear whatever the frick they want, and no gifts required. I wouldn't even do that, except members of the family are sad they won't be present for actual vows, so I figured this was a nice compromise.

Gf and I don’t want kids and we aren’t crazy about them either. So yeah, this is a great freaking idea.

Do what you want, but don't get pissy when normal people decline.

We bought a house instead of having a big wedding. Got married in Vegas.

What about children of the couple getting hitched? Theirs together.

Hell, do the kids a favor and leave them at home. They don't want to go to a wedding either.

I probably went to 100 weddings over the past 20 years in many states and countries, though none in Louisiana.
The only ones where children were allowed, outside of a flower girl and ring bearer, were the small town white trash ones in Iowa where an invitation is only required for dinner, the dance reception is usually crashed by many, and someone usually gets in a fight.

Yeah, I figure most nice weddings are "child free" by default without actually needing the title.
The only times I recall seeing kids were at backyard type weddings, super religious dry weddings, or someone from my small town extended family in a Knights of Columbus hall or church gymnasium type of deal.

Our literally only had two and those little shits still managed to be front and center. Flower girl started poking and punching me and my wife in the middle of us cutting cake and taking pictures while her mom drank wine and didn't give a frick

though I will say if your kid is causing a ruckus, take them outside

You're supposed to have the wedding before the child. If there's a child, it smacks of irresponsibility and maybe the bride's a little bit of a whore.

I’m fine with it also.
However.... let know how I feel about this scenario...
We want your kid to be the flower girl/ring bearer... but they can’t come to rehearsal dinner or reception...
Wedding is out of town, 6 hours from home.
Am I supposed to make that drive just to let them sit in the hotel room except for an hour here and there?
Then what? I have to go rehearsal dinner and reception without my wife while she it in hotel room w kid?

Fortunately, I would never be invited to such a thing

Ours was. Avoided any drama and nobody complained.

This is where the request is inconsiderate of family/friends who have children. You shouldn’t expect these people to show up or even give a gift since you probably offended them. They aren’t gonna travel from another state if their kid isn’t allowed into the reception. It’s not as easy as getting a sitter if the wedding was local.
