How do you talk to your kids about sexual preferences of others?

I did not. My kids are 35,36 now. I don’t envy raising a young child in this messed up world.

Just say they’re “friends”.

We tell them some people have two mommas or two daddys. We have a lesbian couple as a neighbor and a few friends that gay, married, and have kids.

I try to avoid watching anything with my 8 year old that includes that kind of stuff, but occasionally we'll watch something and it just happens unbeknownst to me. I shoot him a look and it seems like he doesn't care.

We are even friends with a married lesbian couple and he still hasn't brought anything up. The only thing he talks about is Minecraft.

I tell them that homosexuality is a sin. The same as sex out of wedlock and pornography.

I don't have kids, but if I did I'd just tell them that a key doesn't unlock another key and a lock doesn't unlock another lock.

I told my kid to guzzle an entire bottle of Dave’s insanity hot sauce

He asked me if that would help him determine if he is gay or straight

I told him I don’t know, but it will give him an idea of what his a-hole is supposed to be used for

Exactly the same scenario here. My son is 8 and he also asked the question not too long ago.

We basically explained to him that there are many types of people with different taste. Some boys like boys, some girls like girls and they get to choose whatever they like, as long as they respect other people's taste and don't try to force what you like or don't like.

Then he responded "that's gross".

Just what I wanted to hear.
