Leave them in car seat also. Will sleep all night. My two kids slept in car seats every night. They would sleep all night and you didn't have to worry about them. Just put car seat on floor next to bed and good night

Yeah, I wouldn't do this.

Put a little whiskey on your finger and rub it on their gums.

This. Plus, go through the pain of letting them cry themselves to sleep. It’s tough and so tempting to bring them into the bed with you so you can get some sleep but if you do, they will be in your bed for years to come.

My wife and I bit the bullet and after a few tough weeks, our kids learned to put themselves to sleep and put themselves back to sleep when they woke up in the night. Meanwhile, my wife’s sisters brought their kids to bed with them and those kids weren’t capable of having sleepovers alone with their cousins or grandparents for years.

This thing is such a gamble. $220 and my kid is completely indifferent

OP, how old is your baby? Mine sleeps best being swaddled. If he’s fussing, I swaddle & play a song called “shush baby” on Amazon music (literally an hour of someone going shhhh over and over). I rock him to sleep, and he’ll sleep for 6-8 hours.

All about routine. Establish a consistent bedtime routine and they’ll fall right into it.

The orange baby shusher works pretty well, as does the hatch sound machine/night light combo (controllable via iPhone) and rohm portable sound machine for white noise while traveling. I’d say my least used sound machine was the shusher. Still use the hatch every day. It soothes me too I like the wind noises.

There’s a good baby sleep playlist on Spotify I’ve used to put mine to sleep as well. It has a lot of piano versions of lullabies.

ETA here’s the Spotify link: Baby Sleep Playlist

You win.
I was going to say a typical smart arse comment like whiskey or benadryl but your Casey Anthony pic is unbeatable.

“Moms on call” method. It’s a book written by two pediatric nurses. Similar to babywise but there are some differences. There’s also a Facebook group.

Didn’t really work for us, she just loves to be held (duh). Momaroo didn’t really take for a few months and she still rarely falls asleep in it. Swaddles did the trick early on. We also feed her more frequently in the evenings so come bedtime she’s fat and happy.

Six months old now and falls asleep to Baby Einstein YouTube videos after her last bottle. Never used our Merlin suit but use a comfortable sleep sack every night. Layers, babies get cold.

And to you sad saps sleeping two hours, transition to a shift system with your SO. Four hours uninterrupted sleep made things A LOT easier to manage those first weeks.

This

My wife was insane with the schedule, and still is to some extent. But it has paid off, people have always been amazed at what an easy and great sleeper our kid is. Right now he's on a single nap per day (almost 2) and he'll nap for 3 hours if we let him most of the time. It's a glorious break.

I hope when it's time for 2nd child that one sleeps well too.

Yeah, I didn’t really use the shusher at all after the first couple of weeks, and even then it was hit or miss. That said, I have friends who swear by it, so I think it can work pretty well for some babies. At least probably worth a try for a desperate parent
