How do you convince someone they are being scammed?

Just found out a family member has been sending money $500 at a time to Lagos.
The scam is very long and deep.
The just is, someone I know thinks they are dating a LtCol in the army. Someone is sending money to her to send to him in Afghanistan. Yet the money goes through Nigeria?
I told her she was likely funding terrorist.
How can someone be so dumb to send money to Nigeria.
I traced who is sending the money. It's a middle of no where place in Vermont. Has a company name but it's a shell.
This whole thing is nuts

Good luck. I worked for a bank for years, and not a month went by where I didn't try to talk some poor old sap out of being scammed.
Some people just want to believe so bad, that no manner of proof will convince them otherwise.

It’s funny that people can be so easily convinced to be scammed, but it is IMPOSSIBLE to get them to see the light when it comes to getting them out of it. They are stupid to get scammed in the first place and then they double down on stupid and absolutely refuse to admit that they’re wrong.

Tell her to get 10 Walmart gift cards in the amount of $100 each and have them sent to my PO Box in Metry. We will take it from there after receipt of said cards.
