How do you avoid your kid playing travel ball?

Seems like it’s not worth the time and money but how do you avoid it? I honestly don’t want to spend all my weekends and money traveling to roast at a ball park. How do you convince your kid to stay in regular park league?

Get your kid interested in shite like science instead that might actually benefit him
Or tell him you can't afford the travel ball nonsense

Be a parent and learn how to tell them no.

Ummm?
Make it the only option.

My parents told me they couldn’t afford it which was the truth.

Yep. You're just going to have to be the bad guy and say no.

More of how do you convince SO who thinks it’s a great idea that it is actually a terrible idea

We signed my step daughter up for fall softball. They practice every Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday until the first game, which is Sunday September 9th, the opening weekend of NFL football. The odds I miss her first game are set at %100

Buy a boat and get them fishing instead.

Bribe him with other shite or straight cash, works like a charm. If you think he'll play high school ball, he'll be behind the curve however.

You aren't his friend, you are his parent. Be a man, and tell your kid no. There is no "convincing" needed.

Honestly I think travel ball will be one of those “things people used to do” in ten years or less. A ton of my generations recently retired MLB players are coming out very vocally against it and there seems to be a lot of opposition building against it. I loved baseball as a kid. But I would’ve hated it if I had to play every weekend year round.

You don’t negotiate with terrorists! At least that is what I tell my kids. My money, my time, my transportation!!!

If you are in BR a regular park league once they get to about 10 years old will be tough if they want to be competitive. What you can do in BR, is make sure you get on a team with parents who want to play tournaments but NOT travel, you can easily do that. If you are not chasing fictitious points or power rankings or fake world series, there are a ton of tournaments within 20-30 miles of BR, every weekend that you can play in and sleep in your bed every night.

Regular park leagues usually are over by May, what's he going to do all summer ? Play Fortnite.
We play tournaments to get the kids out of the house, keep them playing, plus they are fun and competitive.
You don't have a bunch of kids playing because daddy wants them to.
It's hot but you just deal with it
