How many skinny women do you even see these days? I’m thin and 38, but that’s rare.

It’s mindset and genetics, don’t you think?

I used to think it was a lot of untreated post partum depression - but just this week I spoke with two very large girls in their early 20’s that don’t have any children - they couldn’t believe I have six children

I didn’t know what to tell them

Back in the day you were lucky if there was a girl in the village to be betrothed to. Fat, skinny, with or without a hunchback, all of her teeth, widow of your brother. Your parents helped you find a mate and you liked it.

More plump meant more wealthy, especially when food was morroe scarce historically speaking. That isn't the same anymore and obesity wasn't studied as it is now.

Are Asian countries develops they're all thin. Not just China, Japan, Korea... Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodi, Laos, etc.

Philippines pretty thin too.

So you just talking about latin?

I meant within populations. For example, more highly educated women in the United States are, statistically, thinner than less educated women in the United States.

It was in response to her saying that there aren't thin women left.

Duh. Being fat used to be a sign of wealth and prosperity. Now being fit is more respectful as a sign of intelligence and discipline. Well, was... until SJW have tried to change that

We no longer live in a time where food isn't readily available and fat has to serve as a sign of wealth and prosperity. That's what we have Aston Martins, designer dresses, multi-million dollar homes and expensive dinners for now.

Elites always set the standard for beauty. During hard times, when lower class women worked out in the fields to make ends meet, they were thin and tan, so plump and fair were considered the ideal as it was a mark of someone with leisure time. During our modern time of plenty, lower class women tend to spend more time inside and less time exercising. Now, being fit and carrying a nice tan is a mark of leisure time, so that's the ideal.

Yeah maybe. That’s certain the accepted wisdom. But does it make sense? Dudes generally find thin women more attractive. Would that change? I understand the fertility aspect and that a plump woman isn’t malnourished but thin women—not skeletal—don’t look malnourished or sickly. A guy might marry the plump woman bc she comes from more money but does it mean he’s more sexually attracted to her?

Absolutely.

But I’m skeptical that men were more sexually attracted to fatties. You know, marry the fat one bc she’s wealthy but fap to the thin one.

It is. Being fat meant you had food which meant you had money which meant you had power. Now that food is largely not an issue, you’ve seen this go to the wayside

This is correct the same way being pasty white was cool because it meant you did not work outside in the sun. Then getting a tan became cool.

Also proof of global warming

It is a fact that the ideal body size has changed throughout history.

I think people are inclined to focus on the extremes, but I think there is a band in which reality generally lies.

For example, this is one of my favorite pieces of sculpture in the world:

LINK

She's not thin; she's not plump. She's just... a woman. That body type is always going to be considered just fricking fine, even if it's not what happens to be en vogue at any given moment.

No. Because we have taken Natural selection out of the reproductive process.

But that sculpture you love so much is not even a woman she's a fairy who didn't want to have sex with the God Apollo. So they probably wouldn't have given her a woman's body being that it's not for having sex with her.

quote:

Daphne /'dæfni/ (Greek: ??f??, meaning "laurel"),[1] a minor figure in Greek mythology, is a naiad, a variety of female nymph associated with fountains, wells, springs, streams, brooks and other bodies of freshwater. She is said by ancient sources variously to have been a daughter of the river god Peneus and the nymph Creusa in Thessaly (Hyginus Fabulae 203) or of Ladon (the river Ladon in Arcadia) or Pineios, and to Ge (or Gaia) (Pausanias and others).[2][3]

quote:

general narrative appears in Greco-Roman mythology, is that due to a curse made by the god Cupid, son of Venus, on the god Apollo (Phoebus), she became the unwilling object of the infatuation of Apollo, who chased her against her wishes. Just before being kissed by him, Daphne pleaded to her river god father for help, who transformed her into a laurel tree, thus foiling Apollo.
