I graduated 4 years ago and got my job from networking while at LSU. Long story short, im ready for the next step. I'm thinking finding a good head hunter. Any luck with hiring one?

One does not hire a headhunter. If you choose to go that route, then meet with as many as you can and let them pimp you out. If placed, then the company pays them, NOT YOU.

Companies come after you for the real good paying jobs. Put yourself out there and start networking with people in the field you want to be in. If you are worth it, the offers will come.

Did a project for them through my old job, inquired about opportunities, was hired. Now I get to hire my old boss for projects.

My fear of networking is my job is on the sensitive information side. I'm fearful if it got back they would let me go for that reason. Guess sometimes you have to chance it.

Applied for similar job in another city (in Alaska)

I interviewed a couple of times and was offered the job.

Had second thoughts, didn't want to move and crossed fingers similar job here would open

Girl in Juneau transferred to the other city when I declined.

Her boss heard about me, called me and I interviewed, got the job here

Current job was a brother-n-law type deal

When I pick up a party bartending from time to time (not currently doing it as much as I have, but it's been cyclical in my life for nearly two decades), it's word of mouth and reoccurring 'accounts', krewes, or organization fundraisers.

I've had little luck over the years with indeed, LinkedIn, monster, worknola, Craigslist, etc... I swear I have about a 3% response rate on the amount of resumes I send out.... but if full disclosure I'm not the most marketable and no expert in any field, more like I have just a bit in nearly every field...

They called me. But, that had to do with connections I made in graduate school, through marriage, and by being good at what I do.

If you keep your LinkedIn profile updated with good overview of experience, you're likely to regularly received contact from head hunters with opportunities. Even if they reached out months ago, just tell them you're now interested in making a change, what do they have?

I fit that category. All I want is an interview and I'll probably get an offer. There's nothing remarkable in my educational history, I've got a few black and blue marks, but I'm good at selling myself and can learn quick.

I also get bored rather quickly

Was working at RPS (now FedEx Ground) off Seigen lane during college. My roomate was doing inside sales for a company and said I should try it out. 22 years later, I'm still there.
