Their ageing population issue is real. My youngest son has been there for 7+ yrs, now expecting his third child with his gorgeous Japanese wife. It's such an issue that the government has passed a law that families with 3 children get free schooling, pre K through college, for life. Their third child will fly free, throughout Japan. Marriage rates are down significantly is part of the problem.

Japan’s low birth rates the last few decades have the young population supporting a disproportionate aging population.
Combine that with their strict immigration laws, which have prevented the flow of young workers to help make up for the lost generation.
(Not saying a flood of illegal immigrants would help. I’m talking about legal, vetted, educated immigration to fill in the gaps in the work force)

Without black females to drive innovation their economy was always doomed.

Japan implemented loose monetary policies that led to extreme speculation in real estate and the stock market. By 1989, the Nikkei 225 index reached nearly 39,000. When the Bank of Japan raised interest rates to cool the market in 1990, the bubble burst. Land and stock prices plummeted
Hmmm....

And also plummeting birth rates.

Was it the bomb, or all the masculine men being killed in a losing war?

Their number of working-age people per retired-age people is all jacked up. Most nation-states would fix with immigration, but there's never been the appetite for it in Japan.
It's the same reason why China should be in a tremendous amount of deep shite. Right now the ratio is 3:1 and in 20 years it will be 2:1. It will be an unprecedented social experiment. Think about how much econommic anxiety and gloom there is among young adults in the United States today, and muliply that by 20 or 30 in China in about 20 years.

About the movie Rising Son, a friend nad worked for a Japanese multinational company and was describing when the son was sent to the US to head things here.
Rising Son may well have been inspired by that young man and his ineptitudes.

is funny watching 80s movies and you hear the occasional “The Japanese are going to own us” line. Sounds just like the China commentary since 2009
The difference being China literally owns us and has cornered one of the most important markets currently propping up our economy: chips

Concerning that the US is not currently getting a handle on policy that seems intent on ballooning assets for private equity backed investors at all costs.
Having so much real estate gobbled up and assessed at values beyond what actual renters/buyers can pay for leverage seems a fools errand for many of us non-economic experts.

Out of every 1,400 people living in America, 1,399 of them aren't Somalian, but feel free to contirbute to this thread with your overdramatic braindead drivel.

Good on Japan.
AI and automation will ease their issue. Ditto China.
Place with mass immigration (especially illegals)…aka: the West, are going to be slammed by AI and automation.
America has the opportunity to get on the front foot.
Europe…not so much.
